New York Court Holds Stun Gun Ban is Not Unconstitutional, in Contravention of Caetano

Herschel Smith · 30 Mar 2025 · 2 Comments

Dean Weingarten has a good find at Ammoland. Judge Eduardo Ramos, the U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York,  has issued an Opinion & Order that a ban on stun guns is constitutional. A New York State law prohibits the private possession of stun guns and tasers; a New York City law prohibits the possession and selling of stun guns. Judge Ramos has ruled these laws do not infringe on rights protected by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Let's briefly…… [read more]

Notes on the Gospel of John, One

“36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.” – John 4:36-38

As the prophets of old sowed, preparing the way for our Lord Jesus Christ, did the apostles reap. And today, as the apostles and disciples sowed, leaving us the New Testament to share with all men, we too reap of their reward as God brings souls to faith while we tell them of Christ.

We sow and reap from one man to another. Some share a verse or two, and some mention their love and service to Christ. Some plant the word in the field, telling strangers of the glories of the Kingdom of God by salvation in Christ Jesus. Other men follow behind, reaping those precious souls sown by us that the Lord has watered and nurtured. We laborers together commend those newborn Christians unto Holy Father God as desirous of Him, and life eternal, condemned no more but to be sons of God, converted to the truth.

“But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.” – Matthew 13:8

If the seed is fallen on good ground converting you to Christ, you are to sow and reap, bringing forth much fruit (John 15:8), good fruit (Matthew 7:17), and ordained to bear fruit that remains (John 15:16), even leading 100 souls or more to Jesus Christ. This work is done one soul at a time.

Pray for the lost, that God would send those to you looking for answers, sinners in need of salvation. Pray that you might show them what great things Christ has done for them if they would only believe. Some will reap where you sow, and you will reap where others have planted so that we may all rejoice together as Father God gets all the glory through His Son.

Bring them before the throne that every knee bow and every tongue confess Christ as King (Philippians 2:10-11).

The Best Headlamps for Hunting of 2022

At Outdoor Life.

They list some lights that throw a lot of lumens, but that isn’t everything, and it’s not most important for me.

For example, I refuse to have a headlamp that isn’t “hybrid.”  For example, this model they review is hybrid and can use both a rechargeable battery pack or 3AAA batteries.

I also require the red light for early morning walks to the tree stand.

“Ghost Guns” in North Carolina

BY Herschel Smith
3 years, 6 months ago

Oooo … an Ashville MSM journalist writes a breathless article about ghost guns.  We should all be askeerd.

“In the case of the pistols here that you see, these were all purchased in undercover investigations by ATF,” Mein said.

The area of the frame or receiver where a manufacturer is required to add crucial serial numbers on these kits is blank.

“Those markings give us the ability to trace that gun. By tracing the firearm, we’re finding out who manufactured it, who retail sold it and who the original purchaser is,” Mein said.

The firearms anonymity is driving up their presence at crime scenes.

Let’s stop right there.  Firearms anonymity cannot possibly do or cause anything.  Maybe they don’t teach journalism or logic in college any more.

If unserialized firearms (that’s what we should call them) are more prevalent than in years gone by, that could explain an increased prevalence in crime scenes.  It would only stand to reason if the firearms at crime scenes are a cross section of the firearms in circulation.

As for the notion that serialization is “crucial,” that’s preposterous.  Person-to-person sales are still legal and the work to trace a firearm all the way back to the original buyer means absolutely nothing.  This is a raw ploy to scare the ignorant and easily scared into demanding laws against manufacture of their own weapons and person-to-person sales, and the ATF isn’t just going along with it all, I wouldn’t be surprised if the idea for the story came from them.

A federal rule change in April now makes those kits easier to trace. It will require serial numbers to be included on the frame or receiver. Sellers must also be licensed.

“It would provide that background screening,” King said.

Licensed manufacturer Phil Flack agreed serial numbers help investigators with cases.

“I think so, in one sense for the law enforcement community,” said Flack, owner of P.F. Custom Guns in Buncombe County.

Still, Flack continued, “The law has always allowed for individuals to manufacture their own firearms.”

He is worried new rules could impact enthusiasts and hobbyists more than criminals.

“If you’re going after somebody who’s not really a threat, what have you accomplished,” Flack said.

Phil, haven’t you learned how this works yet?  Don’t talk to the press – nothing good can come of it.

Okay got it.  “Green.”  “Authoritarian left wing.”  Anti-Christ.

I don’t worship the environment.  I do not believe in authoritarianism.  I’m not left wing.  I’m a Christian.

Don’t you try to pin this on my people.

The Fed Has Several Options, None Good For You

BY PGF
3 years, 6 months ago

Note: This post is categorized under Survival.

I don’t know much. Maybe they have something up their sleeve? We were here at the dot com crash in 2001 and the housing bubble crash ’08-09, but we had average inflation both times.

Option #1, Leave interest rates mostly untouched from here; let the inflation run. This would be very bad, but perhaps it’s the best option? Demand will ease, and prices or alternate forms of payment or both will gradually correct the problem. Compounding inflation will cause years of trials, and it could go hyper; it’s a risk. Although this is the best option, it’s the worst option for TPTB. It means doing nothing and losing legitimacy. (We know, we know.)

Option #2, raise interest rates; currently, it’s just under 1%. This will crash the stock market and the economy with it. They have already done this some and signaled the potential for more. If they choose this option, they should raise it to a 4-5ish percent range over the next 18 months and be done with it. Two to four years of hard times, probably less. Real Americans just don’t care; they roll up their sleeves, get to work, and solve problems. Of course, TPTB hates this idea because it means that they’re not running around claiming to solve everything. This might even be a better option than #1 if the Government were honest upfront about the road we had to take and let us solve our own problems locally.

Option #3, make war. Not whack-a-mole with goat herders, millions dead war. Not that those wars weren’t real to the folks involved, they weren’t of the type where all resources are focused on one national task. This is the worst option for you and me. We get rationing worse than a crashed economy, with no attempt to address the underlying root of the problem. The problem is a currency with no real value because inflation is used to pay the debt. They borrow at today’s dollar and pay it back with inflated (lower value) dollars five years later, but they never stop borrowing either. They’ll choose war; it’s how the money changers and war profiteers settle international accounts; no, not grudges, ledgers of debt to each other.

Well, they do have at least one other.

Option #4, which until recently, nobody would have recognized, but they could starve us all. That solves almost all of their problems and satisfies the money changer’s greatest desire, a provocation to jealousy of you, which is the hatred of Jesus Christ for being right (Romans 11:11). What was Jesus right about, you say? Every. Single. Word!

U.S. Soldier Killed in Bear Attack on Alaska Army Base

BY Herschel Smith
3 years, 6 months ago

F&S.

A U.S. Army soldier was killed in a fatal bear attack while on a training exercise in Anchorage, Alaska, Tuesday. The soldier, whose name is being withheld until family is notified, was part of a small group from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) operating in Training Area 412 west of the Anchorage Regional Landfill, according to a statement from the base.

Initial reports have not indicated what species of bear was involved in the attack. A video on the JBER website that urges caution in dealing with a heavy bear presence shows both black and grizzly bears on the base, which covers 64,213 acres of coastal lowlands surrounded by high mountain chains, mostly consisting of wild areas dotted with lakes and swamps. Hunting and fishing are allowed on the base, and access is managed through the use of an online registration system. Training Area 412 was closed to the public after the incident, which is Alaska’s first fatal bear attack of 2022.

Does Military.com know something we don’t?

A soldier died in a bear attack during a training exercise at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, the Army announced Monday.

It is unclear whether the soldier was equipped with bear spray, or if their unit supplies the spray to all of its troops. A packing list for students at Alaska’s Cold Weather Leaders Course, the region’s premier school training soldiers to survive in the area, does not include bear spray.

The base news release says nothing about cold weather training, but of course it does say that he perished in training.

What do we make of the Military.com report?  Are they sending Soldiers out to train in the region of the country most densely populated by bears without carrying means of self defense?  Are they doing that?  Do they not trust them with handguns?

Bear spray?  Seriously?

Bear spray?

Coyote Attack In Dallas Leaves Child In Critical Condition

BY Herschel Smith
3 years, 6 months ago

Dean Weingarten.

On May 3rd, in the Lake Highlands neighborhood of the Dallas metroplex, a coyote attacked a two year old toddler on the front porch. It was about 8:30 a.m., according to AP. From Fox4kdfw:

A 2-year-old child is in critical condition at the hospital after being attacked by a coyote in Dallas.

Police said it happened around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in the Lake Highlands area while the child was sitting on the front porch of a home on Royalpine Drive, which is not far from White Rock Creek.

Another coyote attack on a toddler had happened a week earlier in Huntington Beach, California.

[ … ]

As coyotes have increased in population and adapted to urban areas, coyote attacks have increased. In one research paper 142 incidents were recorded from 1960 to 2006. In overlapping research, 367 incidents were recorded from 1977 to 2015.

When most people were armed, and considered coyotes a pest, coyotes learned to be wary of humans. In urban areas, many people consider coyotes to be closer to Disney characters. Some people value coyotes highly.

Coyotes are not sweet.  They are not nice.  They are not friendly.  They are not your friend.  They don’t want to be your buddy. They attack children and pets.

Don’t be an enviro-whacko.  Kill them if you or your family or beasts are in danger.  Make a rug out of their fur.

Make a discipline of carrying a firearm.  Have no mercy on them.  They won’t with you.

I Don’t Want To Use The Word Crash, But…

Note: These posts are categorized under Survival and tagged Economics to warn you of economic trouble ahead.

Over a month ago, we warned you of hard times coming. Earlier this week, we warned you of the potential for recession.

Major stock market indexes are the last to move lower. They are comprised of the largest companies that can weather slow economic times better than most. So, the problem is not yet readily apparent.

The underlying stock market, however, is entering into free-fall. There are over 5000 stocks worth owning, and they are getting sold indiscriminately. This will bleed into the major indexes soon.

“Official” recession is probably less than six months away; it’ll be this fall. Of course, you likely already feel it with the pinch of inflation. The US stock market remains the world’s best forward indicator of economic booms and busts. Everything could change tomorrow, but things look as though they will get stormy soon.

Discuss this with your spouse and dust off your plan, filling gaps and shoring up where necessary. As we mentioned earlier, these things take on a life of their own; it’s hard to know where this ends. Remember that fear is not of God, and knowledge is the foremost essential tool for survival.
