Opponents Of The Hearing Protection Act: Those Who Hate Your Freedom And Liberty
BY Herschel Smith
Silencer Central has spent an enormous about of money lobby on behalf of keeping suppressors as NFA items. The members of the house ways and means committee is trying as hard as they can to keep from allowing you to purchase suppressors without telling the FedGod and filling out paperwork.
They all hate you and a burning hatred.
@RepJasonSmith @RepDavidKustoff @Silencercentral
I predict that unless the full hearing protection act is passed, Rep Smith and Rep Kustoff will hear about it soon enough at election time. I also predict that Silencer Central goes bankrupt for lobbying against the act.

They want us to grovel for crumbs that fall from the master's table like slaves. Silencer Cental has spent an enormous amount of money lobbying them to keep suppressors in the NFA. It's an unrighteous governing and business model. Presumably, Silencer Central sent the…

Presumably Silencer Central sent them on junkets and sent their families out for nice dinners. All in order to infringe on the 2A.

To all the democrat congresscritters who oppose the hearing protection act, I say, "Blow it out of your ass." And I'm ashamed of the republicans who won't say that to you as well.

Silencer Central is, what? An online retailer of suppressors? I’d never heard of them before today.
Why the Hell would they be lobbying AGAINST the bill? They don’t get to keep the tax stamp. And if suppressors are taken out of the NFA, more people will buy them, and they’ll be looking to established, knowledgeable sellers. Silencer Central stands to grow their business if suppressors have fewer legal hoops to jump through.
But I guess they don’t want my business. That’s fine by me and I appreciate them self-identifying. They won’t have to worry about me darkening their virtual doorstep.

SC claims on their website that they are not lobbying against the bill. I don’t really understand what is going on here. Some of the Reddit threads on the topic strike me as being overblown, and the Rethugs in general are anti-gun even though they claim otherwise.
As commenter Archer notes above, one would think they should be for the legislation in order to increase their sales.

Silencer Central is likely not relishing the thought of becoming a smaller fish in the market.

Silencer Central has built a successful business on the model of helping would-be suppressor buyers navigate the intricacies of ATF paperwork and bureaucracy. They advertise in industry publications all the time. They promise that once you order your new suppressor, they’ll “take care of the rest” and it will be delivered to your door once the process is complete.
When I first heard about the Hearing Protection Act, I immediately grasped that it would put Silencer Central out of business or at least make a huge dent in their bottom line ~ and that they would probably lobby against it, on the quiet. And it looks as if this has come to pass.
It just goes to show that when someone is profiting from the status quo, they probably aren’t going to be in favor of change. It is all a matter of whose ox is being gored, so to speak.
This is also in microcosm a case study in why changing the status quo – even if it is badly dysfunctional and corrupt – is so difficult.

Georgiaboy61 absolutely nails it. They are protecting their own interests, which is human nature.

ALL gun laws are unconstitutional. Folks need to realize that the statist, controlling buzzard known as the FEDGOV is an evil entity with a red wing and a blue wing. The red wing is the Bolshevik Party, AKA the democrats. The blue wing is the GOP. With few exceptions, it is just as corrupt and anti individual freedoms as the communists. Individualism, the practice and protection of individual freedoms and liberties is the only thing that really matters.

Georgiaboy61, greetings from South Carolina. Thanks for explaining Silencer Central’s sabotage of the HPA. It’s sad that a business making money because of the 2A can be so selfish and shortsighted. Even if (and it seems unlikely) the HPA is enacted and signed into law, some states have their own statutes on suppressors and those must be addressed state by state.

The NFA was created by a law suit at a district court. The defendants failed to show up so the prosecution was able to run up a law no one wanted.
This also happened around the time some hoodlums had killed each other in Chicago. And people ask me why I won’t go to Chicago.
It is a camel passed off as a horse. I doubt it will ever be corrected.

Just to clarify, I’m not clear that it is SC alone who is opposing this measure. And our host has made it pretty clear that there are a lot of statist Republicans who are fine with leaving things as they are.
I deliberately avoided the term “sabotage” ~ that’s a pretty strong charge to make without iron-clad proof, and I don’t have it. Legally, I was technically engaged in speculation about the company’s motives, albeit informed speculation, since I have no proof of my contention.
Last but not least, I am not an attorney. Standard disclaimer.
