Further Update On Hornady And The Vaccine Mandate

BY Herschel Smith
2 years, 4 months ago

Well isn’t this special.  So after mandating that his employees take the shot, and then denying it in writing later when the gun community panned his decision, apparently now they’re on a tear to find the one who leaked the memo to the gun community.

The CFO is at the tip of the spear on the hunt.  He’s angry.  Furthermore, those who do not take the shot will have no access to their sick time.  This is punishment for not taking the shot.

So this has almost become unrecoverable for Steve Hornady.  It may be able to be salvaged.  Let’s assume for a moment that Steve isn’t the one doing this, that he is being led by his CFO and/or his HR department.

The immediate solution is to make an example of his CFO and HR department by firing them in front of the employees.  Forthwith unemployed, no returns, no questions asked, no discussion necessary.  Do it.  Fire them all.

Then write a letter to the gun community and beg for forgiveness and explain that you’re not just concerned about money, that you’re committed to liberty and that this message falls right in line with your production of ammunition for lovers of liberty.  Then get in front of your employees and beg for their forgiveness.  Explain that you surrounded yourself with awful people, and that mistake won’t happen again – ever.

Now let’s assume that this is all coming from Steve.  In that case, there is no recovery.  It’s a fait accompli.

This is disappointing news. I wish it wasn’t true.

I’m a long-time reloader, and the Hornady company has seen a good bit of my money down through the years.

We are talking about freedom here. Medical freedom is freedom. Mandates are un-American. The employees of that company are part and parcel of the success of that company. So are the customers of that company.

Mandates such as this one are only going to sour many of the consumers that help that company succeed. If you’re looking to go out of business, fire all of the people who know how to run your business, and then offend and alienate consumers that purchase the product do you make.

At the end of the day maybe Hornady will decide that it doesn’t need the American consumer. It may feel that with what staff it has left, they will just Service the totalitarian left/Gov/LE accounts, freedom be damned.

It will be very difficult for consumers to love the Second Amendment to support this decision. In fact, it will leave many of us wondering if this company intends to support the second amendment. If this is how they treat freedom now, what is to come? It kind of looks to me like a great way to come down on the wrong side of history.

Not so sure how easy it will be for them to show their faces around Grand Island Nebraska. Real people live in the real world. Those are their real-life neighbors. Their community. It’s not a good idea to offend too many of them.

It’s a shame, as most of my reloading stuff is painted Hornady red. Unless something changes, there will be nothing new from Hornady added to that collection.

You were right Herschel, the only thing which will save Steve Hornady is a public mea culpa and self flagelation.

This Hornady fustercluck reminds of when Coonan got in cahoots with the gun control crowd at EVOLVE. In the latter case, that maneuver convinced me of their spiritual bankruptcy, with the inevitable fiscal bankruptcy soon to follow; it did within five years. I will miss however Hornady’s innovative & expensive 357 LeveRevolution round.

RCW is right on. Steve Hornady has a spiritual problem as I pointed out in Mr. Smith’s last posting about this. I told you then he was an enemy of liberty because he has evil in his heart. If you didn’t already, now you know the truth. These actions by Hornady are a symptom of the heart of CEO. Companies (a group of people) quite usually take on the character of the boss (leader).

It’s not that big a company Herschel, he must be fully behind this action from start to finish I would reckon.

All my reloading stuff is from Team Blue or Team Green with one exception that is Team Red. It was not by design. It just what I happened to buy.
Now however, I will avoid buying their stuff. I was considering some new equipment. Their brand will not even be considered.

If you’re good with 224s, and 308s you can shop around (if you want to bring politics into the loading room). But…Where are those 6mm, 6.5mm, and other
diameters/weights from NOS and SIE? Vmax’s are jumping off the shelves for shooters that actually have barrels with normal twist rates and wood stocks and that thingy called a bolt…How about those lone HDY Arisaka and ARG 312s? How about those 30 Mausers (for 7.62x25s TTs) that Grafs carries as a spec bullet and how about those HDY 6.5 123 Grendels FMJBTs that Midsouth, alone, has (had made by HDY)? And, sure…you can get Lapua at Midway all day long for the price. But I’ve never seen a Lockbase or Sencar that shoots better than Noslers or SIEs. Never. Did I forget to say Never? I sure as hell am not going to ladder load a bunch of unknown projectiles now with the primer/powder situation.

Carry on guys. With these *.FedCo manufactured shortages I’m going to get the projectile that is shown on my previous hard earned range cards…The ones that have one or two loads per outing (in a rare good day) that have “awesome” written on them. Curiously, those same “validated” bullets might be used to save this country at some point, regardless of how the CEOs are threading the BS political needle right now.

[clickety] I missed that one back in the day. Alas, after years of late shipments, not responding to voicemail or e-mail, and not returning customer guns sent in for service, Coonan appears to have quietly folded their tent and sloped off into the night. Their assets went up for auction in 2019.

You raise some good points. Not withstanding what Steve Hornady is doing, it is a pretty fair bet that the rank-and-file at the company are solidly in the corner of the RTKBA and Trad-Americans. As the old saying goes, I’m sure they know where their “bread gets buttered.” Hornady isn’t the first nor will it be the last basically good company led by a mediocrity or an outright fool. Those are my two cents, not that anyone asked for them….

All of the major ammo/reloading companies are owned by 2 or 3 mega corps, boycott all you want but you will still be buying from another elite owned company.
I started with a Lee Loader in 1974, bought a RCBS press in 1979 and used components from every single powder and bullet company since. I’m a die hard Barnes bullet man, they’re now owned by the same folks that own a dozen other companies, most of which are anti gun anyway. ALL THE MAJOR GUN/AMMO/RELOADING COMPANIES ARE OWNED BY THE ENEMY!!!!
Wake up to reality, you can’t give up Coke and buy from the opposition. There is none.

Here at our Ohio rifle range, 200-1,000 yards–we have an armor-plated “Safety Barrel,” behind the firing line where misfires, hang-fires, and squib loads are tossed into.

ALL — repeat –ALL my Hornady ammo, pills–are getting dropped into it.

Shit-canning all my Hornady stuff as well.

The 2nd A is not half-assed, nor relative, nor PC, and does not asks for pardon.

The answer to your question is “Berger”. For any serious target or long range work. Are you actually currently using Hornady for this? This is surprising.

I havent touched or considered any Ruger product since the company publicly supported the assault weapons ban back in the 80’s. I wont even pick one up and shoot it if offerred.

Adding Hornady to the list. Fwiw i am a competitive shooter and consume considerable quantities of product.

Apparently there’s an app parents have been putting on their kid’s phones call Life360 (or some-such). Anyway, kids around the country colluded and posted bad reviews of the app on various app stores. Once the ratings became low enough, the apps were removed from the app stores.

All this to say, there are Hornady apps on various app stores, and according to a Facebook user I know, Hornady is fishing for good reviews from employees on their work environment. Enough bad reviews could possible cause some grief… At least it could be fun to try…

I was understanding of the Ammo companies for the last couple of years dealing with the shortages and being accused of all kinds of plots and so forth. I understand why they made some of the decisions that they made in order to continue to fulfill government contracts.
THIS however is a bridge to far.
I get why SOME companies would try to suck up to a Woke customer base and virtue signal their vax status.
I assume Hornady has decided that they would rather suck up to the government contract and virtue signal to the government and some OTHER??people by screwing their customer base and their employees.
Its a shame because one of my rifles really loves Hornady Black ammo but I guess I will have to stop buying them now.
