NFA ruled unconstitutional for suppressors

A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the National Firearms Act (NFA) no longer applies to suppressors and other items whose taxes were reduced to $0 in July 2025.
United States District Judge James Wesley Hendrix of the Northern District of Texas, a Trump appointee, granted a motion for summary judgement from attorneys representing the Silencer Shop Foundation Wednesday. In the 66-page opinion, Hendrix said that because taxes on suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns and other items had been reduced to $0 by legislation signed by President Donald Trump in July 2025, the registration and paperwork imposed by the NFA exceeded Congress’ authority under the taxation power.
I suspect that the fifth circuit will uphold this ruling and then it will go to the SCOTUS. With Ms. Barrett and Ms. Roberts on the court, it’s anyone’s guess what they do.

I seem to recall that the full decision has it only applying to the plaintiffs. That seems to make it another decision of something being regarded as un-Constitutional, but only for certain people. Given the makeup of the SCOTUS as our host points out, I wouldn’t be surprised if they demur on this thing, shove it back down to the previous level as if, “Yeah, ok, whatever.”

And it seems to me that the bigger point everyone is missing here is that when the left retakes power they can just reinstate the tax. With our own blessings should this case stand.
Instead of fighting that the tax was illegal. (I can hardly wait for a $10,000.00 dollar tax on prayer rugs, korans, plus a fingerprint/photo registration scheme to collect it.)
And that 2A amended,,,,,something, somewhere, anything???? (But especially congresses power to tax a right out of existence, it is the stated unconstitutional goal of the NFA.)
Or that one’s right to defend oneself, somehow excludes one’s right to defend one’s own hearing?
Or why it is that lawyers of every stripe seem to miss the obvious in favor of profit almost every time? Ya, not wondering on that one.
