Supreme Court declines to take up three gun ownership cases

BY Herschel Smith
3 years ago

The Hill.

The Supreme Court on Monday denied appeals from three people who sought to have their right to own guns reinstated after being convicted of nonviolent crimes, a move that disappointed gun rights advocates.

The denials, which were issued without comment or noted dissent, left intact lower court rulings which found that the lifetime bans did not run afoul of Second Amendment protections.

One case involved a Pennsylvania man who sought to have his right to own a firearm restored after he was subjected to a lifetime ban following a misdemeanor conviction for driving under the influence in 2005.

The other cases involved a Pennsylvania woman convicted of lying on her tax returns and a man convicted of copyright violations and smuggling counterfeit cassette tapes in 1987.

For a case to be heard, or granted a writ of certiorari, at least four justices must vote to take up the case.

How sad.  The Supreme Cast Of Clowns couldn’t even find four justices to agree to hear these cases.  Thus, they ensured that if these three people, or thousands of people just like them in America, want means of self defense, they must obtain it illegally.

They have ensured the very thing the system claims to want to repair, i.e., that people must become lawbreakers in order to do things usual and typical humans do.

How arbitrary.  How cruel.  How utterly detestable.  How expected and customary from the court.

    Anyone want to take bets that Clarence Thomas was the ONLY justice willing to take any (if not all three of these cases)? He has bitterly complained over the last five years, at least, that the Court refuses to treat the 2nd Amendment as equal to the other rights in the Bill of Rights.

    The Lord does not see people obtaining self-defense “illegally” as “lawbreakers”.

    @Steady Steve;

    ” While there may be still a few good individuals within, we may now consider it to be a domestic enemy of the Constitution. And therefore an enemy of the people.”

    – Which implies that you should not need a permission slip from your government to do what nature herself dictates that all her creatures do: defend yourself. Yet this immoral government expects human beings alone, out of all of God’s creations, to lie down and meekly die in the face of a threat to one’s life. All the more so if that threat occurs at certain points on the map like New York or California. The remedy to this aberration is already being partially applied by our fellow Americans (if you still think of yourself as such). Guns are being squirreled away along with thousands of rounds of ammo by millions of people across the nation.
    But that might not be enough civil disobedience. What the .gov really fears is that the average man and woman might learn to build his/her own weapon. By this I do not mean only from 80% “kits”, but what they may really fear is that enough people might learn the art of building weapons from raw stock- that is, from 0%. Like the people of Darra Adam Khel in Pakistan who allegedly can reproduce any rifle or pistol from having examined a specimen only once. The thought of this probably terrifies TPTB. I fully realize that not everyone can have the mechanical aptitude for this pursuit, but enough people involved in this “hobby” could be a game changer. Consider this; if your “legal representatives” must constantly lobby the Congress and Senate to try to “protect” your 2nd amendment “rights”, then how can it be considered a right? If something can be taken from you via the justice system, then your .gov does not regard that thing as your right to begin with.
