More On Open Carry In Miami Beach

Following up this post, this video documents the legal response to the Miami Beach Police Department thus far. The LEO point that they are allowed to point weapons at armed men even if armed legally (for the purpose of officer safety) is idiotic beyond belief.
If that’s true, they should go around pointing weapons at everyone since anyone could be concealing a firearm. At any rate, this point of logic will be lost on LEOs since .. well, just because.

Still calling shenanigans on the part of MBPD. They were notified ahead of time (which just shows that Florida Carry is courteously going above and beyond what they’re required to do) and their ignorance of the relevant statutes is inexcusable.
If ignorance of the law is no excuse for non-LEOs, why is it OK for LEOs? If they’re going to uphold and enforce the law, shouldn’t it be a basic requirement to KNOW the law?
But about that video: With the discussion centered around openly-carried holstered handguns, WHY ON EARTH is the video showing pawn-shop racks of AR- and AK-pattern rifles, and pawn-shop employees being stupid with them? (Inserting a magazine, cycling the action, and then pointing it at the camera — and the person behind the camera? REALLY!?)
Surely the host of “America Talks” — the self-professed “former law enforcement, Second Amendment advocate, hunter, shooter, collector” — knows the difference between a handgun and a rifle, doesn’t he? And I’d expect he’d understand the disconnect between talking about responsible gun owners while showing people being stupid with guns, right?
It was a good piece until that point. It’s still a good audio piece, but the video ruins it.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that Law Enforcement is allowed to be ignorant of the law when applying it. YOU cannot be ignorant, THEY can be. This goes along with numerous Supreme Court rulings that advise it is NOT the Police’s job to protect anybody, at anytime, under any circumstances.
