**** SCROLL FOR UPDATES ****Â
The Counterterrorism Blog has a good rundown of Hezbollah activities on U.S. soil (Hizballah Activity in North America). You will notice after studying the incidents cited in their blog that while some of the activities seem to be rather spurious regarding location (L.A., Charlotte), others are not and seem to point to a center for Hezbollah fundraising and militancy. The case in point is Dearborn, Michigan.
Courtesy of Jihad Watch, an interesting piece on Imam Elahi comes to us from CBN.com. In part it says:
Debbie Schlussel, a Detroit-based columnist and attorney, was the first to call attention to Elahi’s ties to Iranian government officials.
“Mr. Elahi, I believe, is an agent of the government in Iran. Not only does he have sympathies for them, but he did work for them. And I believe he’s still working for them,â€? Schlussel said. “I went to his Web site, and I found even more outrageous pictures of him with Ayatollah Khomeini, who we know held many Americans hostage for 444 days…We have pictures of him delivering prayers to the Iranian parliament. We have pictures of him with the former President of Iran, Mr. Khatami. We have pictures of him with Mr. Karrubi, who is the speaker of the house of the Iranian parliament.â€?
Elahi does not hide these photos–in fact, they are posted on the Islamic House of Wisdom’s Web site. So is a shot of Elahi with former Iranian President Hashemi Rafsanjani. In addition, a recent issue of the Islamic House of Wisdom’s newsletter featured a photo of Elahi meeting with Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah, spiritual leader of the Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah.
“We need to have another interview, of talking about Hezbollah,â€? Elahi said, “whether that is a terrorist organization or not.Â
The Imam continues by declaring that the Palestinian situation is “worse than the Holocaust” and that when Ahmadinejad said that Israel should be “wiped off the map,” he was not “making an anti-semitic statement.”
The piece goes on to discuss how popular his views are in the Dearborn area. As to deporting the Iman? No, the U.S. government meets with the dear man in an attempt to “build bridges.”
“This man is a danger to America, Schlussel said.  “I think that his citizenship needs to be stripped, and he needs to be deported.
But instead of deporting Elahi, the U.S. government is meeting with him. Daniel Roberts is special agent-in-charge of the FBI’s Detroit bureau. He meets with Elahi as part of an fbi outreach program to Muslims called “Bridges.”
“What we’re looking for here is people who are well respected in the community, that we can build a relationship with them and they can trust us, that we’re telling them the straight story,â€? Roberts said. “And by and large, they’ve been outstanding individuals that we’ve had a chance to meet with through the Bridges program.â€?
Roberts could not discuss his meetings with Elahi on camera, but he did say he did not believe radicalism or anti-Semitism were problems in Dearborn.
Immigration — both legal and illegal — is playing no small part in the influx of radical Islam. Debbie Schlussel discusses this in her blog (Will America be the Next France?):
Right now, Islam is the second largest religion in France. There would be nothing wrong with that, if it were a moderate form of Islam, such as Sufism. But the raging anti-Semitism and violent crime-wave of gangs that has accompanied the increase in Muslim immigration and birth in France is illustrative of radical Islam. Don’t like the wilding of New York’s Central Park thugs, or the gangs of South Central? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Come to France’s city of Roubaix, which The Atlantic’s Christopher Caldwell nicknames “The Harlem of France.” With over 40 percent immigrants, mostly Middle-Eastern, unemployment is 26 percent, crack and other drug use is high, and so is welfare dependence. The unions, controlled by “Maghrebians” (North Africans, ie., Arabs) only hire Maghrebians. Violence rules.
Aside from the massive Arab Muslim immigration, there is French reproduction. It’s no coincidence that France was one of the first countries to use RU-486. Its non-Muslim Arab population practices birth control like nobody’s business. They are not reproducing much. Contrast that with the high birthrate of Muslims in France, most of whom are religious and do not use birth control.
None of these factors is exclusive to France. They can, will, and already have been exported to the U.S. due to lax immigration restraints. That is why groups like the Dearborn, Michigan-based Arab American Political Action Committee-a group whose officials support homicide bombers–stressed relaxed immigration policy as a requirement for endorsing candidates at all levels. That included endorsed candidate George W. Bush, who fiercely competed with Al Gore for that endorsement.
It is also why groups like Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR)-a Hamas front-group, according to former FBI Counterterrorism Chief Oliver “Buck” Revell-support weak immigration restraints. In 1993, CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper told the Minneapolis Star Tribune, “I wouldn’t want to create the impression that I wouldn’t like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future.”
Similarly, Islamic Society of North America President and Hamas supporter Muzammil Siddiqi, said, “Allah’s rules have to be established in all lands, and all our efforts should lead to that direction.” (Pakistan Link, “Issues and Questions,” Oct. 18, 1996). He’s the one who delivered the Muslim prayer at the National Cathedral Service and then hung out with the President at the White House, just after 9-11.
Also remember that in Dearborn, Michigan, calls to prayer go out over the city from the Mosques. Dearborn is being called the “Muslim Capital” in the U.S.Â

**** UPDATE ****
From the Detroit Free Press, “DEARBORN ANTIWAR PROTEST: 10,000 Unite for Lebanon.”
Carrying banners saying “Stop Israeli Terrorism” and chanting antiwar slogans, some 10,000 people rallied in the center of metro Detroit’s Arab-American community in Dearborn on Tuesday, demanding that the U.S. government put pressure on Israel to halt attacks in Lebanon.Â
Repeat: 10,000 people protesting in Dearborn, Michigan, the Islamic Capital of the U.S.
