Carry Guns
BY Herschel SmithTranslated: “My friend has a small farm, but he’s dealing with a little problem: he’s constantly being chased by the wild boars that naturally roam around his farm. So he decided to bring in a dog to help him drive the boars away. The dog’s reaction to the first chase.”
I think my dog would do a lot better, but I’d still rather rely on a large bore sidearm.

The dog is very fortunate that the boar didn’t turn on him. That’s one big pig! Yikes. His friend needs a gun alright, a large caliber gun.

Rifle will handle pig. Any center fire. Dog to stop it so it is not running. Center fire to finish it.

All he needs is a baseball bat.
Don’t feel like typing out my experience with a bunch of wild boarhogs in Germany in the 80’s on motor pool guard duty, armed with just a baseball bat.
If I knew then what I know now, I probably would have been running like the dude in the video.

Shot placement and the ability to get quick follow on shots. Pigs usually have a lot of friends and they figure out what is happening quickly, so slinging as much lead as accurately and quickly as possible has worked in the past.

WE have a great pyranees livestock guardian dog and they are extremely slow to react to first time experiences. First experience- well he didn’t get himself killed. He was probably laughing at the guy known as the owner. What a putz.
If you know there are wild pigs, you probably ought to dress for wild pigs. LIke a large bore handgun and/or a rifle. Dog and owner will learn. God bless them.
