This man does good work.  I’m sure he goes home happy at the end of his day, knowing that he’s done something meaningful.

Kangaroos aren’t to be trifled with and if you have to box one, you’re probably in deep trouble.  Although I would do it to save my dog.

But this man seems to have no problem jogging with Kangaroos.

I guess he has a need for speed.

Essentially, this cat wanted to mess with a horse.  Actually, a Zebra, but essentially the strength of a horse.  And a horse can easily kill you.

Idaho elk hunter kills grizzly in self-defense

BOISE, Idaho — An Idaho elk hunter shot and killed a grizzly bear that charged at him, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game said in a news release.

It’s the second incident in one month in which hunters killed federally protected grizzlies in self-defense.

Rare, that’s what we’ve been continually told. As long as the grizzly remains protected, incidents of aggressive contact will continue to rise.

According to the news release, the man was hunting northwest of Henrys Lake on the evening of Sept. 30 when an adult female grizzly emerged out of the brush nearby. Officials said the man yelled to warn his hunting partner of the bear’s presence, and the animal charged at him.

The man reportedly shot the bear several times with a sidearm, killing the grizzly before it made contact with either hunter, Fish and Game said.

[…]

At least one other Idaho grizzly has been killed in self-defense in recent weeks. Archery hunters near Island Park Reservoir, roughly 20 miles from Henrys Lake, shot and killed a male grizzly on Sept. 5 after it charged at them.

That area of eastern Idaho has been the nexus of grizzly- human conflicts in the state over the last several years.

Always carry a large bore handgun. This report has no info on the caliber used to kill the bear, which we’re always interested in.

They said a “crazed wild boar” attacked a man.  I don’t think it was so crazed.  Many feral hogs are aggressive like that.

If you have to kick and abuse a dog in order to train it, you’re an idiot and wicked man.  I think I’ve said that before.  I’ll probably say it again.

I wouldn’t care if I was a big cat.  I wouldn’t mess with an elephant either.

That’s one brave dog.  Man, I love dogs.  If this happens to you, grab your dog and back away.

Giant invasive Pythons are moving north and need an army to stop them.  Okay then.  Everyone open carry their Beretta 1301 with 00 Buck.  That should fix the problem.

Can’t’ take my eyes off of you.

Three Moose fight during the rut.  Stay away from moose all the time, but especially during the rut.

Good grief.  Is Wisco letting his dogs play with the Raccoons?

This is in London.  I’m sure they stopped to look.  Deer rams into Porche.  Bet he’s sorry he’s facing that repair bill.

From a good while back.  Juvenile moose plays with dog.  I know I said above not to be around moose.  Adult moose in the rut is one thing, but a juvenile moose would seem to pose no danger.  When I hiked in the Tetons I passed right by a moose who seemed pretty sedate.

Dumb.

Invasive mule deer are devastating the natural habitat of a small island off the coast of southern California, and a local conservation group wants to eradicate the non-native invaders once and for all. In order to achieve that goal, the Catalina Island Conservancy has announced plans to employ trained shooters to gun the mulies down from helicopters, the Los Angeles Times reports.

That is about a stupid a plan as I can imagine.  Why don’t they just turn hunters loose and charge money for hunting rights?  They could probably make enough money to sustain the conservancy for a long time.  But progressives.  No danger of logical thinking there.

Nature is brutal.

Sweet Employees You’ve Got There, Department of Defense

A senior member of the Pentagon’s communications staff is among two Anne Arundel County men charged with promoting and furthering an illegal dog fighting operation, according to a federal criminal complaint unsealed Thursday.

Frederick Douglass Moorefield Jr., 62, of Arnold, and Mario Damon Flythe, 49, of Glen Burnie, and their associates used encrypted messaging “to discuss how to train the dogs for illegal dogfighting, exchanged videos about dogfighting, and arranged and coordinated dogfights,” Department of Justice officials said in a news release Monday. Moorefield operated under the name “Geehad Kennels,” and Flythe under the name “Razor Sharp Kennels” to describe their respective dogfighting operations, the complaint states.

The complaint, announced by U.S. Attorney Erek Barron, also alleges that Moorefield and Flythe used the encrypted messaging application to discuss betting on fights, dogs that died as a result of fighting, and how to conceal their operation from police. They also shared media reports about dogfighters caught by law enforcement, authorities say.

The news release identified Moorefield as a deputy chief information officer for command, control and communications for the Office of the Secretary of Defense; he and Flythe were released pending trial. If convicted, each faces a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison for possessing, training or transporting animals for an animal fighting operation.

Law enforcement officers who executed search warrants Sept. 6 at the homes of Moorefield and Flythe recovered 12 dogs. Also found in that search were veterinary steroids, training schedules, carpet with apparent bloodstains, a weighted dog vest with a patch that read “Geehad Kennels,” and a makeshift electrical device typically used to kill dogs that lose fights, according to the affidavit filed in support of the complaint.

The only reason a man does something like this is because he is a wicked sociopath.  It isn’t because of the money involved.  Enjoy your time in prison, jerk.

Two Bear Attacks, Two Different Outcomes

BY Herschel Smith
6 months, 3 weeks ago

First.

On the evening of September 30, a sow grizzly bear charged an elk hunter in thick timber near Henry’s Lake, Idaho. According to an Idaho Department of Fish & Game (IDFG) press release issued this morning, the hunter yelled to alert his partner about the charging bruin before firing several shots from his sidearm that killed the bear “only a short distance way, before it was able to make contact.”

“The hunter immediately called the Citizens Against Poaching hotline to report the incident,” the press release states. “Idaho Department of Fish and Game responded to the call and conducted a thorough investigation. It was determined that the hunter acted in self-defense during a surprise encounter with the bear from a very close distance.”

This is incomplete reporting because we aren’t informed of the handgun make and caliber.  But at least the outcome is clear.

Second.

A 73-year-old woman was mauled by a bear while walking with her husband and their dog in Montana near Glacier National Park on Sunday, officials have announced. The woman’s husband used bear spray to get the beast off his wife and they were able to make it back to their vehicle and drive to a location where they could call emergency services at around 3 pm.

Between bear spray and a large bore handgun, you know which one I’d choose.

You walk with the equipment God gave you.

I’ll come live with you and love you, but only under one condition.

Us animals got to stick together.

Us animals got to play together.

A protective breed.  My Heidi-girl was very protective too.

A special needs duck. Even the animals know to take care of those in need. They don’t rush – they seem to know the drill.

@myprideandducksI didn’t realise until watching the video back later that they placed Cleo in between them when they were walking home, even though she walks so much slower than them! I love ducks!♬ original sound – My Pride and Ducks

If you have to beat a dog in order to train him or her, you’re stupid and wicked and have no business being around animals or humans.

But this dog seems to have recovered from abuse quickly.

I demand to have my belly rubbed, and I’m badder than you.

Nothing wrong with a good pool party.

Good boy.

Don’t mess with bull elk, especially if they are rutting.

Big dog versus Cobra.  Good Lord!  That dog has guts, but seems to know the risks.

If dogs are more courageous than snakes, cats are quicker.

Dog and puppy rescue.  Just in time.

Everybody loves good music.

What a jerk.

Dogs are smarter than cows.  Hey, they’re probably smarter than many humans.

Even injured, the honey badger fights off the leopard.

Man it’s eerie when wolves howl.  And man those wolves are big.

Feeding a falcon from your window.  It’s amazing that he’s gained the trust of that bird.

He’s okay, but he was remined to carry a big bore handgun, wasn’t he?

Stevens hightailed it back the his truck to grab a hoodie that he hoped would protect him from the swarming pests, but as he hiked back, he noticed a Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks employee eyeing him from a distance. It was a biologist working in the area who’d been observing Stevens’ hunt from afar. From his vantage, he could see a large grizzly bear stalking in on the hunter and his kill.

“I walked out to where my car was parked and he drove down there and he said, ‘Do you know you have a grizzly stalking you?’,” Stevens says. “I was just shocked.” The biologist told Stevens that another group of hunters had been watching as well, and they’d alerted FWP because they were concerned for his safety.

“They said that as soon as I shot that deer, the grizzly picked up his head. He must have smelled it immediately,” he recalls. “It started coming straight on a line for me. I was really lucky that I got out of there when I did.”

Stevens had left his bear spray at home that evening. He had a handgun, but it was just a 9mm. “I’ve become so comfortable with that area and have been hunting it so often,” he says. “I didn’t wanna carry my big .45 around with me because I didn’t think I’d really need it. In hindsight, I should have thought that through a little better.”

I don’t mind carrying around my .45.

Bird shot just isn’t sufficient for bears.  I have no explanation for how you would avoid a situation like this.  Bird shot is certainly a second or third or fourth choice.  Reaching a large bore handgun would be my first choice, but this attack was from close range.  Actually, my first choice would have been 00 buck, but you don’t hunt upland birds with 00 buck shot.

Earlier this week, a man was hunting upland birds along Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front when a grizzly bear charged him from roughly 15 feet away. According to a press release issued by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), the bird hunter escaped the harrowing encounter without injury after firing his shotgun multiple times, injuring the bear and causing it to flee the immediate area.

I just don’t think I’d get into a pet skunk.  WiscoDave is pretty oddball with his pet pigs, but I don’t even think he would like this.

Oh, oh, it’s my human.  I love you so much!
