The late Queen refused to open an airport terminal after a relative on his way to see her at Balmoral was stopped from boarding a plane with his guns, he has claimed.
Lord Ivar Mountbatten, a first cousin once removed of Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh, revealed he was prevented from taking his shotguns on a flight from Bristol to Aberdeen.
He told Gyles Brandreth’s Rosebud podcast how a “sweet check-in lady” told him the hold was accessible from the cabin so they would not be secure, despite him telling a manager: “The Queen’s sending me a car and she’s expecting me for tea.”
In the end, his guns were left in the police armory at the airport and Lord Ivar took the flight to Scotland to join the Queen for the shooting weekend in the Highlands.
Later that day at Balmoral, when he recounted the tale to the Queen, it led to her “getting rather irritated” and dispatching her equerry to arrange transportation of the guns, Lord Ivar said.
The aristocrat, who is also Elizabeth II’s distant cousin, told Brandreth: “She said…’I would like Lord Ivar’s guns to be up here tomorrow morning. Please see to it’.
“Whereupon she turns back to me and she looks at me over her glasses with a glint in her eye and she says ‘They want me to open their new terminal’. She says ‘I don’t think I will now’.”
Lord Ivar added: “So every time I go back to Bristol Airport now, it was opened by the Princess Royal, I have a quiet laugh to myself.”
Anne first opened a terminal building at Bristol Airport in 2000, and later opened a terminal extension in 2015.
Lord Ivar, whose great-uncle was Earl Mountbatten, this year appeared in the third season of the reality show The Traitors US.

It sickens me to hear politicians like Hochul and Newsom and Harris say “Assault weapons and high capacity magazines are weapons of war and have NO place on our streets” at the very same time they are being protected 24-7 by mercenary cops with those very weapons.

In the days before firearms being common, rulers intent upon dominating their populations attempted to ban edged weapons and the possession of bows and cross-bows. Centuries ago, under such a ban, the Okinawans developed several of their empty-handed fighting styles.
The communists love guns! Chairman Mao himself said so ninety years ago when he famously declared, “Political power grows of the barrel of a gun… The party must always command the gun so that the gun never commands the party!”
This dynamic is why communists always move to seize control of the enforcement arms of the state – the police and the military – whenever they seize power.
The hypocrisy of Hochul, Newsome, et al. lecturing us about the evils of firearms from behind a wall of men armed with those very weapons is so thick it can be cut with a knife. Rules are for the little people, indeed!
When billionaire former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg left the office, he hired his entire security detail right off of the NYC PD – right down to their special weapons and gear.
I keep waiting for one of these “social crusaders” to offer to live without a protective detail and armed security guards, to “set an example” for the rest of us – but I’m not holding my breath on that one! The typical leftist is apparently too thick to comprehend just how bad are the optics on the issue when they pull stunts like that.

The above bit of wisdom comes from the late great Cooper’s book, “The Art of the Rifle,” just one of the many bits of wisdom to be found within its covers.
As the people of Switzerland have proved over recent centuries, and the occupants of Afghanistan more recently, riflemen who live in the mountains are virtually impossible to conquer and tyrannize. Maybe that is why the ruling class hate it so when the peasants have the means with which to defend themselves.
