The Engineering Of Shooting Ranges
BY Herschel SmithI found this video very interesting, and he’s only discussing the engineering of outdoor shooting ranges. Inside it becomes even more complicated with sound-absorbing materials, ventilation, filtration of hazardous materials in exhaust air (lead, copper, etc.).

A friend of mine opened a gun shop with an attached 6 lane range. I was in there one Friday after work when the insulation or soundproofing caught fire, perhaps creosote ignited by a spark. We were out the door in 30 seconds, total loss by the time the fire company showed up. His construction was solid, but I don’t think the engineering was up to par.
