The McCloskey’s Inoperable Pistol

Assistant Circuit Attorney Chris Hinckley ordered crime lab staff members to field strip the handgun and found it had been assembled incorrectly. Specifically, the firing pin spring was put in front of the firing pin, which was backward, and made the gun incapable of firing, according to documents obtained by 5 On Your Side.
Firearms experts then put the gun back together in the correct order and test-fired it, finding that it worked, according to the documents.
This prosecutor’s office is a piece of work. That attorney – Chris Hinckley – should not only be kicked out of the BAR, but prosecuted for tampering with evidence.
In the mean time, I do not change my prediction that the McCloskeys will never see a day of prison time.
What they do need to do, however, is get some tactical training.

As for the lying, cheating Hinckley ordering the tampering of evidence, case dismissed and new charges filed on him.

I think Mark McCloskey said in an interview on FOX that they rendered her pistol inoperable and turned it over the their attorney. Which opens up a whole new set of questions. I also find it some what surprising that someone that is that bad at handling weapons knows how to render that pistol inoperable.

If you want to render it inoperable, take the firing pin and magazine out. Or remove the barrel entirely.
Like you, I’m doubtful that s/he would have been capable of even field stripping the gun, let alone rebuilding it intentionally incorrectly.

Or maybe McCloskey comes from the same school I do — if you make a mod to a piece of equipment, and can find a way to store the removed parts inside or at least in the same case as the equipment, they won’t so easily go missing when you want to reinstall them.
