However, despite the case between Timbs and Indiana making it to the United States Supreme Court last year — and the SCOTUS unanimously ruling with Timbs — the state of Indiana is still trying to argue that even the most petty instances of breaking the law can result in civil asset forfeiture.
According to Reason, that includes a situation involving a vehicle that was stopped for going five miles per hour over the speed limit, if you ask Indiana Solicitor General Thomas Fisher.
“This is the position that we already staked out in the Supreme Court when I was asked by Justice [Stephen] Breyer whether a Bugatti can be forfeited for going over five miles over the speed limit,” Fisher said last week during oral arguments before the Indiana Supreme Court.
“Historically, the answer to that question is yes, and we’re sticking with that position here.”
Ooooo … a lawyer “staked out a position.” So I guess we’re all supposed to genuflect. Even though it’s morally and legally wrong, if he’s staked out the position, well then, it must be enforceable even though the highest court in the land said no.

The treasonous Sanhedrin supported the Roman occupation because they too wanted Roman held stability, which meant that their own schemes could operate unabated. Taxation is only ‘valid’ if it is Voluntary; the instant it becomes “Enforced” it is Theft, and Immoral. We live in a ‘society’ where the State is God, and must be Worshiped Exclusively, under pain of Death. Yes, that’ll Offend you christians, but Prove me Wrong, tell the ‘government’ that the Bible says Taxation is Evil or Immoral or whatever, and see what Happens. Don’t drop the Soap in the Shower.

FWIW, I’m NOT an ‘atheist’, ‘pagan’, ‘satanist’ etc. any more than I am christian, muslim, or “jew”. Like another Famous Scientist said, I See that “God is in the Details” and the Work I have done has made Me intimately familiar with God’s Laws, the Physics of How Everything in this Universe ‘works’. Religion has saved exactly zero souls, accept where it brought them to the notion that religion, or a work, doesn’t save anybody and the further realization that Christ saves by faith in Him, and that’s it, there is no religious act, nothing you can DO except believe that Jesus can take your sin and make you free. God is a perfect gentleman. He sends one of us to make the offer and awaits your answer. It’s a choice freely offered by Him and freely taken by those who make the leap. I completely agree that the evidence of His creation is in everything, there most certainly is a created order. The is a higher Law. It’s the leap of faith that makes a man want to talk to this Creator, to know Him. You know His physical laws, these are His laws of making a first acquaintance.
Years ago our little burg was approached by the Feds to assist them in “drug interdiction” since one of our main thoroughfares is a conduit between two largely minority cities. The whole pitch was the cut of the car and cash seizures that the local department could get by stepping up traffic stops or targeting specific cars ID’d by the Feds. Thankfully the chief turned them down, said he was not going to get into the road piracy business.
