Sex Trafficking And Why No Family May Be Immune

3 years, 6 months ago

It’s a leap worth making; that concealed carriers are always examining surroundings and people, profiling for danger and a thing or person that seems out of place or acting strangely. It’s a natural fit that you would be on the lookout for anything, even a low-threat profile minor in distress. We suppose this can also apply to folks who witness for Jesus Christ in public places or other ministries for Christ as well.

You are not a cop (unless you are). All we’re doing is standard the security sweep and this extra thing; are there any young girls or even boys or adults who oughtn’t to be in that situation or environment? Nobody would blame you for not involving yourself with the police. Call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888, gather as much information as you safely can, and let them handle it. Defense of others, and especially the least among us, is the law of God!

Sure, there are high-likelihood areas, and the readership here is generally less likely to be in those places than some demographics, but, leaving our Oligarch pedophile global “leaders” aside for the moment, there is a higher socioeconomic level associated with the prostitution of minors than you might imagine.

The article is not offensive; however tragic the topic may be, read it and watch the video.

I’ll put it somewhat crudely one time, No 13-year-old girl says, hey, maybe I’ll go turn some tricks. They are kidnapped and forced.

Concealed carriers who, as the late, great William Aprill said, possess a “fully-formed mental map of the expected terrain” and heightened sense of awareness can take actions that reduce the chances that the persons they love and care about ever become sex trafficking victims. In addition, we can become quicker to recognize the signs of  other person or persons that we do not know become sex trafficked and take actions that may result in getting law enforcement involved and ultimately rescuing the victim or victims  that end up with the victim receiving assistance from a crisis services program such as the one offered by  Cross Timbers Family Services where the goal is recovery and an opportunity to live a full life. The rest of this article is dedicated to providing readers with at least a partially-formed mental map to what sex trafficking is and is not based upon the above-described panel’s presentation on Human Trafficking.

For some reason, I’m unable to embed this time; here’s the video link URL.

Knox County Commission refuses to support Gov. Bill Lee’s “red flag” gun safety plan

3 years, 6 months ago

This would be funny if it weren’t sad, and also a serious warning to free people. Forget for the moment that this resolution has no force of law, and this post isn’t about Red Flag laws necessarily.

On a nearly straight-line party vote, Knox County commissioners rejected a resolution supporting a “red flag” gun reform law backed by Gov. Bill Lee.

The governor has asked GOP lawmakers to pass the safety measure, which is supported by an overwhelming majority of Americans and can help stop mass shootings like the one that killed three 9-year-olds and three adults in Nashville.

The Knox County resolution, which was drafted by local high school students on the new Junior Commission, urged lawmakers to pass a law that temporarily takes away guns from those who are deemed to be a threat. The resolution was sponsored by Courtney Durrett and Dasha Lundy, the commission’s two Democrats.

Larsen Jay was the only Republican to support it. Kyle Ward was absent.

Jay said the resolution was “a statement that at its core says we support our governor in his efforts to make this a better state.”

Rhonda Lee, explaining her vote against it, said gun rights are too important to weaken with any proposal to limit access to guns by mentally ill people.

West High School junior Caroline Scoonover told the commission during the meeting that the resolution she helped draft was intended to be a nonpartisan approach to stopping gun violence.

“This resolution is in no way, shape or form extreme,” she said. “We’re simply trying to protect ourselves with common sense solutions.”

Dain Shelton, a senior at Hardin Valley Academy, asked commissions to stand up for kids in the community who are terrified of school shootings.

“Technically we may be children, but I can assure you, we are not children,” Shelton said. “I wish we were. We’ve had our childhood stripped from us.”

I don’t want to say anything against this terribly ill-raised and misled student, but Dain Shelton’s parents should be ashamed of themselves. Hardin Valley Academy is populated by some of the most privileged people on earth. They, every parent, teacher, and student should be on their knees before the Christ of God, worshiping Him and giving Him all glory, praise, and honor for the absurd level of abundance of every resource of provision that even the people in the next county over could only dream of. This abundance includes layers of security and safety from parents, neighbors, and the government. Hardin Valley is one of the safest and most comfortable places on earth.

“Childhood stripped?” Seriously? Go work the lithium mines for your Teslas! I’m not classist; the people who have built the businesses and provided the jobs and homes are critical to this area, but listen to these children; they’ll turn on the productive in a heartbeat.

Other students echoed his statements, with Gabriela Sanchez Benitez adding, “This is not how it should be. We are not free. We are tied down by chains of fear.”

Irrational fear comes from a spirit of evil through the absence of Holy God (2 Timothy 1:7). “Tied down by chains of fear?” This rises to the level of AOC silliness.

What should bother the reader is the training these young people have received; that should make Americans fearful for the future. They have no concept of reality, truth, or the hard work it took to make Knox Country, and particularly Hardin Valley, prosperous and free. And despite all of Knox County’s problems and vanishing liberty every day, it’s still relatively free compared to much of America. Ungrateful to God, thankless to their forebears, whiny children of privilege! Pathetic.

They’re so ill-educated that the concept of those same laws being used against them is inconceivable to their feebly trained minds. Of course, purposefully retarding their ability in logic, reason, and critical thinking is all part of the communist program, even in East Tennessee.

Edit: look at this propaganda headline from Fox News. If you still watch and read them, you’re daft! “Tennessee governor defends Second Amendment in previewing special session on public safety, gun reform”

No Red Flag law! Tennessee already has a sufficient law for criminal threats.

Pistol Sights Under Various Lighting Conditions

3 years, 6 months ago

As a follow-up to Night Sights: The Key to Fighting the Night from last week, we thought to post this brief discussion about several sights in varying light conditions. Though, in this article, the camera doesn’t capture well the pitch-dark aspect, the pictures are still helpful upon close examination.

Having a handful of different sight setups on a few of my Glocks, I figured it’d be handy to compare them side-by-side in various lighting conditions in a consistent manner. While I had my own feelings going into it, I found it interesting how similar the tritium and fiber options were with blacked out rears. Granted that was just when the tritium front sight came with a day-glo orange ring around it for extra highlighting, but I had expected the narrow fiber sight to have a clear advantage in all situations other than completely dark (which may be difficult to come up with a justifiable circumstance for).

What does “Son of man” Mean

3 years, 6 months ago

God calls Ezekiel Son of man. (Chapter 2:1, 3, others. It’s capitalized for both Jesus and Ezekiel in the KJV.) I’ve often thought about this in connection with Christ’s own expression of Himself as the Son of man.

It’s a qualifying term. Ezekiel, acting as a type of Christ, is called upon by God to both prophesy and judge. There’s a typological connection with Ezekiel as a prophet to the Jews and a judge to Jesus, who is Prophet to all men and the Judge of all men.

Keeping in mind that the New Testament interprets the Old Testament, this study shines much light both on Christ and Ezekiel under the term ‘Son of man’. It would be well worth investigating Ezekiel’s role more fully, but Dr. Gentry explains for us why Christ calls Himself the Son of man.

It’s a fascinating short study with detailed Scripture references while also being expressed in a manner that even I can understand. Jesus is both fully God and fully man. He’s solely qualified to judge all men justly, not just the first-century Jews.

Though believers are accountable to God for violation of His law, it’s wonderful to know that God, in His mercy, doesn’t judge us only by His own perfect, inerrant, and holy standard. Though saved, now we cannot attain; He is the Creator; we are the creature incapable of being co-equal with God.

Jesus, being the Son of man, solves the need both for the final holy sacrifice to usher in His Kingdom and, being fully man, He’s uniquely qualified as high Preist to believers and Judge of the quick and the dead. He knows our temptations and infirmities; Christ walked a mile in our shoes, as the expression goes. “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” – Hebrews 4:15.

Folks who may be on the fence about Jesus, refer here for a more thorough explanation, in simple-to-understand terms, of who Christ is and why you need the salvation of Holy God.

Nothing from me this Sunday. Below are a few key paragraphs from this excellent study. Have your Bible handy for reference, and do read the whole thing.

As we consider this phrase in the Gospels, we must keep three important issues in mind: (1) Jesus is the only one who ever uses this phrase. Never do his disciples, the Jews, or anyone else mention it. (2) The phrase is always used with the definite article: “the son of man” (3) In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus himself does not even begin using it until Matt. 8:20. Each of these points is significant.

In the Gospels, we find four key predicative-expressions serving to identify who Jesus is: (1) “the son of David” (Matt. 12:23; 22:42); (2) “the Messiah” (Matt. 16:16, 20; 26:63); (3) “the Son of God” (Matt. 26:63; 27:43, 54); and (4) “the king of the Jews/Israel” (Matt. 27:11, 42). And these are often used by persons other than Jesus — even by God himself (Matt. 3:17; 17:5), Satan (Matt. 4:3, 6), and demons (Matt. 8:29).

The phrase “the son of man” is a technical term, but not a term of identification pointing out who Jesus really is. That is, we never find it mentioned as a predication, such as “he is (or is not) the son of man.” Despite modern popular opinion, it does not function as a christological title. And it is not a substitute for “Messiah.”

That key sentence was bolded by me. It’s something not previously considered.

Night Sights: The Key to Fighting the Night

3 years, 6 months ago

I’ve never read Handgun Mag (Guns & Ammo Handguns), but it might be worth a daily or weekly stop to check out; the source of this article is there.

Since criminals obviously prefer to avoid apprehension, it should come as no surprise that criminal activity spikes at night. The cloak of darkness provides fewer witnesses and makes it more difficult for their intended victims to detect their approach.

But darkness isn’t confined to night. Consider being inside a building where the lights are off. If you carry a gun but haven’t practiced with it in a low-light environment, you’re way behind the curve.

Training in diminished light will reveal shortcomings not only in your shooting skills but also in your equipment. The need for a weapon- mounted or handheld light—preferably both—becomes clear. After all, how can you shoot what you haven’t identified as a deadly threat? And if you’ve ever tried to align black sights on a silhouette target in low-light conditions, you probably wished your handgun had nights sights.

I was going to skip posting this commentary until it mentioned training. Preparedness for a low-light situation is an excellent point. This has me curious about the lighted vs. dark self-defense shooting stats; are any actually kept? Indeed, for home defense, low-light fighting skill is a must. Plans and drills are the most important thing for family home defense (and fire preparedness), and if you have a family, a firearm light is also critical. If you have a night job or often travel at night, and in other situations, it’s also essential.

Many night sights contain tritium, a radioactive material that emits electrons that interact with a phosphor gas, generating low-intensity light which is used to illuminate objects that need to be seen in the dark, such as emergency exit signs, wristwatches, or, in our case, gun sights. Night sights provide the shooter with invaluable aiming information, without disrupting night vision.

I’ve used night sights; they’re great. I’m interested to hear of any drawbacks to them. I’ve found none. Also, I’m very interested if anybody knows of specific drills for low-light they would link or share. This could benefit us all.

Tennessee Lawmakers Pass Bill Protecting Firearms Industry From Lawsuits Over Crimes Involving Guns

3 years, 6 months ago

Source:

Tennessee has been wooing firearms industry manufacturing for years now. Several smaller operations are located here along with Baretta. Some of this bill can is attributed to direct lobbying efforts by a small group of vocal firearms advocates in Tennessee.

This might seem like a small win, but the pro-gun crowd should push for similar legislation in their own states. The controllers have openly stated a desire to destroy the firearms industry through civil liability.

Members of the Tennessee state Senate voted on Tuesday in favor of a bill that would protect gun and ammunition manufacturers and sellers from civil liability when their products are used to commit crimes.

The Republican-controlled Tennessee Senate passed HB 1189 by a vote of 19 to 9 on Tuesday, after the Republican-controlled House voted 71-24 in favor of the bill on March 6. The legislation now goes to Republican Gov. Bill Lee’s desk for final passage.

The legislation states a firearms industry dealer, manufacturer, or seller cannot be held liable in a civil lawsuit in the state unless they accompanied a person in committing the underlying crime for which the lawsuit was brought or unless they sold a firearm product that was defective.

The law states that if a defective firearm product discharges in the course of a voluntary criminal offense, then that voluntary act must be considered the sole proximate cause of the property damage, injury, or death for which civil liability arises, thus excluding the firearm industry member from liability in that case.

In 2005, the U.S. Congress passed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which generally protects firearm industry members from civil liability over the criminal misuse of their products. Some states and localities have explored ways in which firearm industry members can be held liable outside the existing protections of the PLCAA.

California and New Jersey have passed legislation that allows the Attorney General to pursue civil action against firearms manufacturers. Wouldn’t it be nice if the right had the same disregard for all federal law that violates the Constitution (nullification) as the left does for the law of God?

[…]

Sen. Art Swann of Maryville was one of three Republicans who opposed the legislation providing added civil liability protections for the firearms industry.

This part is attention-grabbing. I wonder if the people of Maryville know they have a traitor in their midst; I suspect so. It’s an unusual vote; he’s been friendly to Tennessee business interests. I’m sure that as a result of this, he will now be avoiding some venues and refusing certain invitations for a visit. Controllers are always cowards. I have not met him. An aggravating factor is that Maryville has a very suitable and experienced manufacturing and light industry workforce for the firearms industry. Seeing this, I suspect no firearms companies would want to relocate there. Swann may be killing potential future jobs in his district.

Swann said “gun-makers have encouraged the environment we’ve got right now,” adding, “they’re accountable for it, and we need to hold them to it.”

Gospel Witness, If Thou Forbear To Deliver Them

3 years, 6 months ago

Note: Tagged Gospel Witness with the other posts in this series.

“11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; 12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?” – Proverbs 24:11-12

Herschel mentioned these verses the other day. They caught our attention. Certainly, the correct understanding is the defense of innocent life under the watchful eye of Holy God. A man is also to capture his brother’s ox that is astray and return it (Deuteronomy 22:1), and more so, we are commanded to return even our enemy’s wandering ox or ass (Exodus 23:4). Though He is at enmity with Holy God for his sin, how much more is a man than a beast to the Almighty who has numbered every hair on his head (Luke 12:7)? We must tell all men how to avoid hell, leading them back to their rightful owner who is holy Father God.

Throw a rock in any direction, and you’ll hit a sinner who’s being drawn unto death beneath the curse of sin; the devil has blinded their eyes to the truth, except some man should be their guide. They live in the kingdom of death and hell hopeless without the saving love of Christ, and we, having a saving knowledge of the Master, are duty-bound to warn.

For His Church today, Christ instructs us by parable in the cause of finding the one lost sheep, rejoicing when it is brought again to the ninety-nine (Luke 15:1-7). That parable is about the sinner’s restoration and may apply to those who wander like a sheep that’s gone astray from the truth and those men who have yet to be converted. He says in another place, more to the point; “For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.” – Matthew 18:11

The spread of the Gospel didn’t stop; it went into all the world as Christ was made the ruler of all the kingdoms on earth after the temple was destroyed, ending the Old Covenant. Under a new, better, everlasting covenant, the Church exploded in number as God built His new heavenly temple. This work is ongoing; we should be deeply bothered by the ebbing in our day, praying for the lost and that Holy God would move whole continents to faith again.

Under the Kingdom of God, a disciple of Him who came to seek and to save should also be about this same divine business of spreading the Gospel. For we are all witnesses (Acts 1:8); the Gospel is to be preached to every creature (Mark 16:15) under heaven until the commission (Matthew 28:18-20) is fulfilled. Whenever you see something in God’s word three times, He is emphatic; you have been commanded thrice to spread the Gospel.

All men must hear the glorious truth of the Christ of God who died for our sins according to the Scripture and rose again the third day according to the Scripture that all might be fulfilled necessary to save God’s lost sheep. If they die, dear watchman on the wall, and you warn them not, their blood is on your head (Ezekiel 33).

Searching and seeking for those Christ would save by His mighty power as life-giver and author of the second birth by the Spirit of God, Christ directs every Christian to this vital task. There are no exceptions and none who may say, “Behold, we knew it not.” You, too, were headed to death and hell for grievous sins against God and His righteous standard, and so is the whole of man.

Jude well says: “21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”

God does know your heart; there is no day of excuses; all must meet the Maker of heaven and earth. Consider how God ponders the ways of men, for He is the keeper of your very soul. He who issued the breath of life into you, and made Himself sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him, doth He not know your frame? Christ will render to every man according to his works. Deny Christ now; He will deny you in heaven before the holy angels of God (Luke 12:8-9).

Sinners are easy to find; we are without excuse. Telling them the truth is simply a matter of forsaking your own will and seeking to accomplish the works for which you are appointed. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10

“19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” – Ephesians 2:19-22

We are citizens of the Kingdom, raised up with Christ Jesus, fellows with the saints who were mighty men of valor by great acts of faith in deed and service of the Almighty. That same Spirit rules in us; no mountain cannot be brought low, conquered by the will of God in us. Stop doubting; you are of the household of God who is your Father. Why do you fear? Call upon the Lord of the harvest for renewal of the Holy Spirit in you; it’s not by your own power but by His that the love of Christ is broadcast near and abroad.

The foundation is sure, built upon the Rock, which is holy, the prophets and apostles attesting to us daily in the word that all is made sure in Christ, the chief cornerstone of us who, if only we are willing and active to follow after, are laid a sure foundation offering the hope of life everlasting to those who need Him.

When you serve God, you not only work on building the holy temple of the Lord in yourself, but you grow it outward, the Lord adding to His Church daily such as should be saved. God prospers you, fitting you to duty, honor, love, peace, joy, and service of mighty works to His glory, growing together all His saints into that holy temple in Christ our risen Saviour and great High Priest, Just Ruler, the King of all domains.

Salvation is of faith, but so too is the life of the believer; by the Spirit of God in you, walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7), taking one initial step in the belief that God will save thousands by His word from your mouth and watch God pour out His Spirit upon those being called to His great purposes into the everlasting Kingdom built on the resurrection of Christ and destruction of the defunct old way. It’s a New Covenant in the blood of Christ; your life is not your own; go, making the way of salvation sure to all who hear God under the sound of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is given a Kingdom that we are to build with Him sharing the word of God as He draws and calls all men to the foot of the cross, some, sadly unto condemnation, but brothers and sisters in Christ, millions and millions have been reborn by the Spirit already. And many millions more by their faith, and not theirs alone, but ours to tell them what great things our God has done that they might hear and believe. And if the Lord allows, even billions more may be added. How could you do nothing?

Henry Has Entered the Wheel Gun Game with the New Big Boy Revolver

3 years, 6 months ago

Henry Repeating Arms:

It comes in .357 (.38 Special) with a Birdshead Grip or Gunfighter Grip.

As the perfect companion to ride alongside our world-famous Big Boy rifle or as the star of its own show, the Big Boy Revolver is a classically styled six-shooter fully capable of bringing the Henry name into the wild world of wheel guns with the same attention to detail and American craftsmanship you know and love.

Available with square Gunfighter-style grips for maximum control or rounded, compact Birdshead-style grips for better concealment, this traditional double-action handgun would look right at home on the shelf of a Wild West general store. Borrowing design cues from its long gun brethren, the Big Boy Revolver touts highly polished blued steel throughout the medium-sized frame, quick-release cylinder, and 4” barrel. In addition, genuine American walnut grip panels are affixed to both sides of a mirror-like brass trigger guard that’s visible around the grip to the top of the backstrap.

At about 34 ounces, these revolvers carry easily yet shoot softly with a smooth pull and hammer drop in double action and a crisp break in single action. A traditional revolver sight picture is achieved with a fixed notch cut directly into the frame and a ramped blade front sight, of which three sizes are included for regulating the point of aim to match the point of impact. Like its rifle counterpart, a transfer bar safety keeps the firing pin from striking a loaded chamber unless the hammer is cocked back and the trigger is squeezed.

From full-house .357 Magnum loads for hunting to light .38 Special target loads for easy plinking, the Big Boy Revolver will eat all you can feed it. So whether shooting for fun or meat, having your long gun and sidearm chamber the same cartridge is convenient — that’s Cowboy Logistics at its finest.

As the first-ever revolver under our belt, serious collectors and connoisseurs of the Henry mark will relish the opportunity to add both variants to their safe. Modern design features with historically consistent style have always been our hallmark, and the Big Boy Revolver is no exception.

A Quick Look At Bullet Types

3 years, 6 months ago

Source:

I’ve never shot polymer-coated or tipped rounds.

Poly-coated Bullets—polymer coats the entire bullet, creating a number of advantages of shooting or loading by hand. Because they’re coated in polymer, they don’t release as much gas from each round, which helps with indoor shooting. The polymer creates a smooth feed in magazine loaded firearms. And the polymer also reduces residue left in a firearm’s barrel. Sometimes color-coded by use.

[…]

Polymer-Tipped—bullets with a plastic or polymer tip that improves aerodynamic stability for hunting or long-range shooting. Other advantages are associated with the tip being forced back into the body of the bullet and aiding with expansion, as well as a more reliable feed in semi-automatic firearms. The concept is simple enough; it can fly like a Full Metal Jacket bullet, but expand like a hollow point. The ability to injection mold these polymer tips has also aided in manufacturing consistency. Made famous in the Nosler “Ballistic Tip” design, polymer-tipped bullets are now being made by many manufacturers for big-game hunting, long-range competition, varmint control, and now even personal defense ammunition.

Several other types are mentioned in the same short paragraph fashion at the link.
