Well it was satire. I did tell a retired cop once that friends don’t let friends shoot glocks. That being said a lot of people carry one.

The plastic fantastic does tend to just run.

However, they have all the ergonomic feel of a brick.

I’ll stick my my Kimber 1911.

Funny video, well worth watching, by the way.

A great video and fair testing that proves the 1911’s superiority.

It takes a big man to make an Australia/Austria joke; and a bigger man to laugh at that man, unless he’s armed.

Well during the Obama Administration an interviewer asked Vladimir Putin if any progress had been made with Washington concerning foreign policy issues. Putin responded:
” It is very difficult to discuss complex issues with people who don’t know the difference between Australia and Austria.” HA HA.

Seriously though, with regard to the 9mm vs 45 portion of the debate. In common self defense ammo for the 45, such as the 230 gr Hornady XTP load and many others, the 45 usually surpasses the 400 ft lbs of energy threshold. That number has been considered desirable for a self defense cartridge for some time. Not sure how that figure was arrived at but many organizations that deploy firearms use that number as a standard.

The 9mm, on the other hand, does not quite get there for standard loads. You have to go Plus P to get there. Does that mean anything? To some it will others not so much. It tells me that 9mm self defense ammo is probably better in the plus P variety most of the time. I am sure James Yeager would disagree.

    Folks,

    This … is … just … humor.

That’s all. A little levity is the spice of life. There’s enough heavy, serious stuff we discuss over these pages.

    This … is … just … a … joke.

Does anyone here have a sense of humor?

That was the first truly objective comparison that I have seen and I vouch for its accuracy, although I think the Glock is actually made in Smyrna, on the Black Sea. Glocks were invented by the ancient Greeks.

Almost turned it off in disgust after a minute or so.

    I love my Glocks.

It’s nothing more than a parody. Don’t read into it more than is there.

Does anyone have a sense of humor left?

Herschel, I laughed all the way through it. Was a great “on the lighter side of things” comparison of Glocks and “God’s Gun”. I have both. I like both. But the 1911 has a soul. The Glock is just a tool.

    Bwahahaha

Dang funny I’m a 1911 guy mostly because I prefer the slimmer grip and the superior triggers. I carry a Kimber ultra carry II that I have re-springed and rebarreled once due to round count. I’m an old fart, grew up on the 1911 and the Glock feels foreign in my hands. I own several Kimbers and Springfield 1911s and have complete confidence in the platform and my ability to deploy them. I’ve got three 19s and a 17 in my safe that are all shot regularly but I have spent so much time with my 1911s that I simply find them preferably – for me.

Carry what works best for you.

    Great video

@Herschel, Monday being the day humor is probably the most needed, it is also the day where it’s likely the least well received.

Downloaded a great video from tube about 9mm vs. 45acp where the maker has cinder blocks hanging from trees and the 9mm tears them to shreds while the 45 just punches holes. At the end he says…why not both.
If the choice is FMJ only then nothing tops 45 and retrieved slugs often have a warp to them that is almost like a JHP expansion.
The .357 is your best bet for one shot stopping energy (500lbs) and it doesn’t kick that hard, the 45 is awesome for power (400+lbs) without excessive recoil and it is an all American caliber.
An old gun book that the library deleted had a story about a lawman hitting an assailant in a trailer window with an FMJ from almost 100 yards using a long barrel Commander style 1911.
