Election Day 2020

BY Herschel Smith
3 years, 6 months ago

Tomorrow (maybe today when you read this) is election day.

I know how my readers feel, at least the ones who comment.  I won’t tell you what to do.  You wouldn’t listen anyway, not that you should.

My own philosophy is that I don’t have Grover Cleveland or Calvin Coolidge to vote for.  They aren’t on the ballot.  The obviously small government, non-interventionist, closed border candidate won’t be named on the paper in front of me.  That’s not my fault.

I will vote.  I consider that my duty.  I will vote how my conscience dictates.  I will not vote for self-proclaimed communists, regardless of how much I dislike some of the infringements on the other side.

I can do nothing more, and nothing less, with what I’ve been given.  My station in life dictates how much authority and power I have.  I’m satisfied with what God has given me.  I will neither ask nor demand any more than what I’ve been given.  The rest is in His hands.

This is a simple post.  I am a simple man.

See you on the other side men.

    Well said, Hershel. Well said.

Although if Grover Cleveland WERE on the ballot, he would have my vote for sure.

    Take care.

Spot on. Trump has let us down in some areas. Some very important areas. However he is against the endless wars, he is trying to get a handle on the predatory behavior of China and other countries who seek to destroy us and he has taken steps to protect American jobs.

He has done all of this while having to fight off an internal and ongoing coup attempt the likes of which we have not seen before. The opposition? Well we know who they are.

Brian Mast is my republican representative for Congress. He has an F rating with the NRA as he does not think that We The People should have AR15’s. But the alternative is to vote democrat, and that is something I WILL NOT do, as we cannot give the dems one victory in Congress.

Anybody having a problem between Trump and biden should have his head examined and the franchise removed.

If there is such a thing as a “deep state”, ISTM we as citizens have a duty to counter it. I only see one person who has prospects of doing that.

I stopped participating in the grotesque exercise of voting for my slavemaster years ago. Rock on Bill Buppert and your stoicist, anarchist worldview. I have but one Master and his name is Yahweh. I have but one Lord and King and his name is Yeshuah. I will bow down to, bend the knee, serve no other. I am a Christian Anarchist when the anarchy is directed towards the heathen despots who rule over us. Yes, I am the Left’s worst nightmare, Theocratist who will die willing obeying the Almighty Father. Clear enough!?

  9. On November 3, 2020 at 10:19 pm, Herschel Smith said:

What on earth does who you bow your knee to have to do with whether you cast a vote?

    Nonsequitur.

  10. On November 3, 2020 at 10:35 pm, Danny said:

@Herschel, where does it say in the Bible where its my duty to vote? Especially with regards to a Heathen Oligarchal (sp?) enterprise supremely antithetical to everything in my Christian worldview? Voting got us to where we are, voting will not save us from it. I disagree with you labeling it as a non sequitur. Especially considering my original premise of participating in an un Holy endeavor. Dont quote me Romans 13 as it has no context regarding the enterprise to which you posit its a duty in which to be a participant. You rightfully state other biblical precepts and principles regarding my participation in civil affairs, namely I will protect the innocents under my charge physically, spiritually and least of which pertains to protection of property. But voting when my choice is between a career Deep State pederast and a Communist for SC US Senate rep – I will pass and sleep well knowing I stood firm in my rejection of unGodliness on both counts. Perhaps we should agree to disagree.

  11. On November 3, 2020 at 11:11 pm, Herschel Smith said:

As usual your prose is illogical.

I never said you have a Biblical duty to vote. That is a post I could examine writing, but haven’t yet.

YOU SAID that since you now your knee only to one, you will not vote. As if you have a biblical duty NOT to vote.

Stop making unintelligible and contradictory comments.

I cast my vote…and my eyes have seen the amazing, overwhelming support for Donald J Trump….worldwide support. He will win and I’m positive it is God’s will. We are men, and we are legion.

I have also seen with my own eyes, blue state cities boarding up their businesses to protect them from rioting criminals….all of them Biden supporters, not Trump supporters. What is Biden’s slogan? To restore the soul of the nation? I think not. He is doing the work of the devil. I can see it with my own eyes.

Been up all night. What an insane roller-coaster. Up, down, around, watching every pundit from every side run the range of emotions from grief to acceptance to panic to denial and back again…

…this must be the sort of madness the citizenry of Rome was privy to in the Empire’s declining years.

The United States of America will get what it deserves, the fall of this Republic is certain. We have thrown the Ideals of Our Founders into the ash heap of history.

President Trump is a finger in the dike, the full pressure of the communists aided by the the MSM cannot be stopped. The importation of slave labor with no sense of individual liberty has tipped the scales, this story was written long ago.

Prepare to defend yourself to the death, or hop in the boxcar, Our Lord has given you a choice…

Many of you who post here are Christians (as I am), so this is meant as encouragement not as criticism, or as a sermon.

We all suspected the election was going to end up like this, and we all knew why.

While we wait to see which immediate direction our republic takes, it would be good for all believers to remind themselves (as I have had to) that once we do our civic duty, the results -whatever they are -are in God’s hands. (Romans 13:1)

Taking the players out of the equation and ignoring our support or disdain for them, we are witnessing a fierce battle between good and evil…I believe it is the final battle of the church age. Though this plays out here, the real fight is in the spiritual realm, and we are required by God to engage there – as well in the natural realm, when needed – using the armor and weapons God has given us (Eph. 6:14-18). Most people leave out v. 18 when quoting the armor of God passage, but it is part the same subject, and note what it says:

“…praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

This requires faith on our part, and it is not a coincidence that in using the armor of God, Paul says the shield of faith is the most important piece (“above all’).
Jesus clearly made the same point: “When the Son Man returns, will he really find faith on the Earth?” (Luke 18:8).

If we can manage to keep our eyes on Christ, it will be easier to live with the election’s out come. Things don’t always work out the way we pray and hope we will. but they will ALWAYS works out for our good (Romans 8:28).

  16. On November 4, 2020 at 9:43 am, George 1 said:

The communists have obviously stolen the election. They will probably get away with it. Now it will fall to us to have our states not follow the dictates which will come from the dems and the evil Ms. Harris.

Wasn’t it Stalin that said something about how voters don’t matter, the ones that count the votes do? I think we are seeing that in full force right now in AZ, MI, PA, NV & WI. In 2000 Al Gore wanted to keep counting until they found enough in FL to swing things his way, a lot of deja vu going on today…
