I don’t see how this can be anything but a clear-cut case of self-defense. He was on the ground with several people surrounding him administering a beat-down. It has been seen several times recently what can result from that.
I would like to see other video of this; what were the Police doing before, what precipitated the beat-down, where’d the guy come from? All this seems relevant.
I understand the police can’t be everywhere — and who would want them to be? — and I also understand that they were attracted by the sound of a gunshot and find one person pointing a gun who surrenders immediately. Did nobody think to ask “What just happened here?” instead of instantly proning the subject, handcuffing him, and hauling him away?
Appears to be around 9 different cops in the video. Don’t have a great perspective, but it appears they were content to let the crowd mob rush and beat the shit out of the victim. Only got interested once a gun appeared.
Me thinks they handcuffed the wrong guy…

If the cops released that guy once they got him out I am ok with it. Anything else and the cops where in on it.
Do not go to and event like that in anything less than a squad of like minded people. Minimum 4 so you have 2 2 man teams so you can extract.
Anything else is idiocacy
Again, extraordinary constraint. Amazing. When the men such as this finally realize the law has been abolished and war is at hand, they will start shooting. I have no pity for the enemy dead. May the Lord have mercy on them and save their souls that they turn from this wickedness otherwise they may die young and burn for all eternity.
I always watch the vids with the sound off first. So should you. Or I suppose you could listen to the audio only and then watch. Your mind automatically takes in the totality of info at once. This is a good thing when in any situation at all, but watching a vid in the comfort of your home it’s not a good technical or sequence analysis method to be flooded with all of the cues at once.
Also, I’m not as sure that the cops, in this one instance, didn’t act appropriately. They didn’t jump into the tumult, a tactical mistake that you yourselves would not have made, but they DID take the opportunity to gain positive control of the situation once the VICTIM gained separation from the Criminal Assailants by drawing his weapon. The police then backed the crowd off and provided safe egress. Say what you want, but the guy was not followed or later doxxed by vehicle tag. Take the good where you can find it.
Surely the po po could have arrested the assailants though. So there is that.
My conclusion is based upon the Law of God in self-defense. Remember, the goal of any self defense situation is to get the assailant, whether man or animal, to disengage. He did that. Bravo, and again; he showed excellent restraint.
Now, God’s Law of War is different. This man was (prayerfully, now, coming to the realization that this a war) operating under the assumption of the Law of Self-Defense and did a great job considering the situation.
LE has to be just out of frame. Certainly they could see this scrum starting. The cops running in with their guns drawn bothers the hell out of me. I have as much right to my gun as they do there’s. As usual, they always get there late.
During the scuffle in front of the car, objects are dropped onto street.
Fat Guy in black shorts picks something up after the pile on disperses, but something left in street. Cops walk by it.
Sign Girl picks up remaining dark object.
Fat Guy looked like he was trying to get some kicks in onto the victim.
Clear-cut case of self-defense, IMHO. That said, bear in mind the mantra of a very wise man, now, sadly, no longer with us:
