Is Red Dawn Really Just Ridiculous?

A disarmed citizenry would be national suicide. It would invite invasion. It would make the risks of a Red Dawn scenario more likely. Subversives who undermine what the Founders knew to be “necessary to the security of a free State” are quite literally giving aid and comfort to America’s enemies.
I always thought that Red Dawn was plausible without an armed citizenry. Besides, now that the U.S. military has chosen to self destruct, what else is there beyond an armed citizenry? Do you really think the military is any shape to conduct full scale, conventional warfare?
Really? We couldn’t beat a bunch of goat herders in Afghanistan. What makes you think we can beat a uniformed army?

In all fairness, the political class has been using the military as a form of police rather than as an army like it was meant. There has been too much emphasis put on not harming the supposed innocent citizens. The same citizens that will detonate a bomb to frag your a$$ at the road side or worse.
I think if they were allowed to go in and start crushing, killing, and destroying with the objective of taking any semblance of will to fight out of those goat fornicators they would have been successful.
Unfortunately, the last time the world saw a generation willing to do just that was almost 100 years ago in WW2.

There, I fixed it for you. We now use the military as a disposable commodity, like firewood or Kleenex or deodorant. Political problems? Chuck some military on it. That’ll fix it. If it doesn’t, chuck some more military on it. Repeat as necessary.

Even if you turned off the lights and let us kill ourselves for awhile. Your supplies will just be to juicy a target for the hard-asses that are left.
The best case for China-Russia is to watch us kill ourselves and take over the rest of the world. Without America financial/military intervention the world is wide-open.

As for goat herders, Afghanistan was the burying ground of other great nations as well; Britain and Russia. Never underestimate goat herders.
