The Most Stupid Gun Law Ever Made

New York state lawmakers are considering amendments to the state’s sweeping new gun control law, including repealing a ban on magazines that hold more than seven bullets, Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Wednesday, describing most of the changes as technical.

The law, passed January 15, a month after the massacre at a Connecticut elementary school, also requires gun owners to register most guns with the state and requires universal background checks.

[ … ]

Cuomo and legislators have been discussing “technical corrections” to the law, the governor told a news conference.

A provision banning magazines that hold more than seven bullets beginning April 15 would likely be repealed, as magazines generally hold 10 bullets.

“There is no such thing as a seven-bullet magazine,” Cuomo said.

Under the proposal, gun owners would be barred from loading more than seven bullets at a time, he said, unless they are at a shooting range or participating in a competition.

First of all, regarding this issue of seven cartridges in the magazine, Kimber makes plenty such magazines for their 1911’s.  Second, please stop saying that bullets go in magazines, you ignorant moron.  Complete cartridges go in magazines.

But to the substance of the report, take careful note again what the Governor said.  At shooting competitions (we can guess they mean IDPA or 3-gun competitions or some similar event), shooters could load more than seven cartridges in their magazines.  Likewise for ranges.  But if they’re home preparing to defend their families at night, it would presumably mean that gun owners would be committing a felony by loading more than seven cartridges.

This assumes that anyone would be willing to defend themselves from a home invasion and then rather than unloading the balance of the magazine, they admitted to law enforcement that they had more than seven loaded.  Of course, it might take more than seven to defend against the home invasion, which is the point of this ridiculous dance anyway.

Note again.  Voluntarily acquiescing to load no more than seven cartridges in your magazines when you need them, and loading them up to capacity when you don’t.

This has to be the most stupid law ever proposed by the most stupid people on earth.  But of course regarding the people, we knew that already, didn’t we?

There are many good people in western NY. It is a shame that their “values” are dictated from Albany and NYC. Of course, I see a scenario where patriots might be grateful that the anti-constitution idiots are heavily concentrated in just two areas.

actually Kimber doesn’t make a 7 round magazine for 9mm, 10mm or 38 super … they do have alot of 7 round mags available for .45 …

  • GomeznSA

cuomo’s quote is just another example of his absolutely abysmal knowledge of firearms in general and standard magazines in particular. Anyone with a modicum of firearms knowledge knows that the standard magazine for the M1911 is SEVEN rounds. So is the standard mag for the Walther PPKSm among many others. Yet bloomie in his ‘infinite’ wisdom flat out denies their very existence. And he has the gall to try to tell us what we do or don’t ‘need’.
What’s the old line “he can’t even run his own life………”???

To think that my western NY State college offered “rifle shooting” as a phys ed elective (I took it twice)…but that was in a galaxy long ago and far away. Most freedom-loving people have already bailed from the land of Bloomberg and Cuomo.

“There is no such thing as a seven-bullet magazine,” Cuomo said.

What an idiot. Kahr .45’s come with two of ‘em. What does he think ‘single stack’ in that caliber means? Oh, I forgot. He’s never heard that term, either.

  • Proudly Unaffiliated

The Tokarev 9mm pistol comes with a 7-rnd magazine.

I see in the law there is an exemption to “assault weapon” status for C&R firearms (semi-auto + detachable magazine + one of the scary features) and also a C&R magazine exemption, but the magazine exemption is only valid if no replica firearm exists (that presumably would accept the mag). I don’t know but the set of magazines that would fit that description I would think is pretty small (I was thinking about M-1 Carbine mags).

Don’t focus on the law’s technicalities — Cuomo and his thugs don’t care about such details because they can always tweak their stupid law in whatever way is necessary to criminalize you and every other NY gun owner.

    THIS is their game:

Key idea to grasp: “…Nor do you blame a dog for biting a neighbor. You might punish him, but the punishment is training, not a recognition of authentic responsibility on the part of the canine. And the way that you think of a dog, is the way that the left thinks of you. When you misbehave, the left looks around for your owner.” [emphasis added]

  • Real Deal 36

    Tokarev’s chambered in 9mm have 8rd magazines.

  • Real Deal 36

In any case, just keep 30 rounds magazines legal. And Have the NYPD and Cuomo enforce they only be loaded to 7 rounds in your house.

I recently sold a 33 round magazine for a pistol to a rural New York resident. I destroyed his e-mails and name because I don’t ever want to reveal who he is by accident or whatever. I have deep sentiment for the fine folk in New York having to live under this dictator governor. I’m sure the guy I sold to is like thousands of other rural New Yorkers and is just stocking up and preparing for the eventual confrontation. I wish them safety and luck. Damned sad time when our country has come to this.
