Florida Man Killed by Bear | First Death by a Black Bear in Florida History!

The comments are interesting.
This is my neighbor. No one is mentioning the bear went into his camper and pulled him out!
FYI, the Florida state record bear is 760 lbs, shot in 2015.
That’s my backyard. Shout out from Collier county Naples Florida. Living off Everglades boulevard touching on alligator Alley. The bears are everywhere and they have always been a big problem really tough to keep farm animals and chickens out in the glades.

This took place about 60 miles from my home. While urban takeover has wiped out deer and fox population that once walked thru my property, coyotees have filled the void, and iguanas are everywhere. Not to mention the illegals that work the nurseries that find home among the remaining tree stands. Bear have never made it this far east, but they might. I have seen packs of coyotees stalking cows near my home, and we can hear them howl at night. A bear would be a welcome sight as it indicates the species can survive in urban sprawl in my region.

I passed right through there a week after it happened, on vacation. It is kind of trippy. While my wife and I were keeping an eye out for alligators, it was the black bears that are killing folks. The other irony is that I stopped at a gun store (Ammo King – how could one drive past and not stop?) and on the shelf they had some Brenneke Bear Protection 12 gauge shotgun slugs that I bought just for the novelty. (I’m sure regular slugs would work just fine.)
