I wonder how many out of battery detonations can be directly attributed to a dirty firearm?
I don’t know about this guy, but an awful lot of these guntubers seem to pride themselves on never cleaning their firearms.
Now, I’ve put a fair amount of bullets downrange in my lifetime, as have friends and family. I’ve seen about every other kind of mistake, error, and such happen – including catastrophic kabooms. But, nobody in my circle of shooters has had an OOB detonation. Same circle of shooters keep their firearms cleaned.

He’s talking about a student’s firearm, not his.

‘This Guy’ is Reid Henrichs is a former US Marine, LEO, US Constitution History teacher for High School, Patriot and current firearms instructor. I am sure he keeps his weapons clean, like any Marine would.

Like Latigo, I’ve never seen an OOB detonation. I’ve been shooting for ~50 years now, sometimes a lot and sometimes not so much. I can reasonably estimate I’ve sent 100k rounds down range. Never seen it, but maybe the next time will be the time.

If you're interested in what else the The Captain's Journal has to say, you might try thumbing through the archives and visiting the main index, or; perhaps you would like to learn more about TCJ.
