Venomous snakes are not to be trifled with. Even if you survive, and it’s not a sure thing regardless of medical care, you will suffer permanent sequelae from the venom.

A couple of years ago I read a detailed, graphic account following a snakebite. Told in the first person by the wildlife biologist who should have known better.
I have a pair of chaps that offer full coverage from the hip to the foot. The maker includes a $1Million dollar policy with purchase. I forget the name and I am traveling right now.

@Rick, whenever you’re able to share the maker of your chaps, please do. I hunt in Alabama, home of all sorts of venomous snakes, and would prefer to not get bitten. I am very picky about how my boots fit and would, therefore, prefer chaps over snakeboots so I can mix and match.

I found it! It bothered me that I couldn’t remember.

Skimming through their website just now I didn’t see the chaps I have. Maybe discontinued? Anyway, a good company.

Thanks. Taking a look at those. They look decently built and pretty reasonably priced.

If you're interested in what else the The Captain's Journal has to say, you might try thumbing through the archives and visiting the main index, or; perhaps you would like to learn more about TCJ.
