is there any doubt that if the skateboard knocked the kid out he would have been either beaten to death or shot with his own gun … not in my mind …

If you’re gonna bring said skateboard to a gunfight, might be a good idea to wear body armor. Of course, soft armor might not have made a difference at that range. And hard armor isn’t exactly what you want to wear for a long, hot, hard night of rioting.

I kinda doubt he had any belief in the Good Lord. I have a feeling the only thing that was going though his mind was “I didn’t think he’d defend himself”.
I do believe in the next few months the Commies will be receiving several lessons in what ‘he’ might do to defend ‘himself’.
