Washington Post:

Soon after news broke on Wednesday that a gunman had opened fire on a social service center in San Bernardino, Calif., killing 14 people and wounding 17 others, the liberal Daily Kos website published an opinion piece under the headline “Your opinion on gun control doesn’t matter.” It crystallized much of the anger and frustration that gun-control advocates were expressing on social media in the wake of another American mass shooting.

The piece takes interesting turns and undulations.  But in the end it has the feel and rhythm of another “everyone is so misunderstood” article, including (gasp) gun owners.  Gun owners, they claim, actually do support some gun control measures.

Here they cherry pick data that we have refuted, but suffice it to say [without rehearsing all of the information we’ve covered in the past] that the majority of gun owners don’t want to have to go to an FFL to transfer a weapon, regardless of what the authors claim.

And there may be a nexus between gun ownership and the understanding that we increasingly live in a society defined by Fabian socialism and government control.  But the authors need to spend a little more time around gun owners before writing prose that makes it sound like they can speak authoritatively on gun ownership.  A little more love, a little less government aggression, and a few more promises, and we won’t suddenly come together, agree to new gun control laws, and melt our guns into farming implements.

Man is fallen, he is predisposed to evil, governments only seek more control always, false religions seek to impose their will on other men, and saying “peace, peace,” when there is no peace, is not a recipe for brotherhood.

As for the disagreeable ones over at Kos, I would respond that if you bristle at the idea of gun rights, fine.  But what you are really saying is that while evil men hunt down the innocent in places of work, worship and play to kill them, what you really want to see is those innocent men perish rather than have access to a means of self defense.

You would rather see women hiding and cowering under desks than be able to live another day for their children, and you would rather see blood in the streets for the sake of government control than free men who won’t allow their families to be harmed.

The hatred of police that your hippie fathers and mothers cherished, has turned into a love of government control.  The love of guns owned and operated by the Black Panthers, The Weather Underground and others, turned into a hatred of anything that could threaten the power of the state – once your ilk was in charge.  What you once loved you now hate because it gives someone else that same freedom and power.  Admit it.  Go ahead and admit it.  Is that such an unreasonable thing to ask?

David Codrea:

Like the saying goes, haters gonna hate. They’re going to rage, they’re going to lie, they’re going to accuse and they’re going to demand. The less temperate and tactical among them, that is, the self-control-challenged who go nuts if they can’t control everyone else, will say some furious, ridiculous and desperate things that will both show all their cards and their impotence.

That’s because they know, deep in their cowardly and covetous hearts, that the final card is held by gun owners who, in the final analysis, will not be scapegoated and will not comply with subversive edicts that do nothing but give all advantages to the evil. That’s because they know that ultimately, they’re stopped in their tracks by one simple, defiant response:

No. Your move.

And it will probably all come down to that.  And be it known that this “gun show loophole” Obama is talking about doesn’t exist.  He and we all know what he’s really after: person-to-person transfers.  Vendors at gun shows already go through Form 4473.  Obama wants universal background checks as a predecessor to gun registration.

And he won’t get it, because we won’t comply.

Peter Doocy: “President Obama yesterday jumped to say that this mass shooting means it’s time for commonsense gun laws. Does the President really think that common sense gun laws would deter terrorists now that he has admitted that these two may have been terrorists?”

White House press secretary Josh Earnest: “Yes. The president believes that passing common sense gun laws that makes it harder for people with bad intentions to get guns, makes the country safer.”

Peter Doocy: “But so the president thinks that when there are potentially two terrorists sitting around planning a mass murder they may call it off because President Obama has put in place common sense gun laws?”

Earnest: “Well Peter, we’re still learning of the precise motives of the individuals who carried out this heinous act of violence yesterday. One thing we do know, is the four fire arms they were wielding we’re legally purchased under the laws in place now.

So what’s a terrorist to do if he cannot legally purchase guns?  There goes the whole plan, out the window.  Defenestrate the project and go somewhere else … that’s the only solution.

No, a terrorist wouldn’t think of illegally obtaining weapons.  And no, this dialogue isn’t fabricated.  It really happened.  Such is the life of the progressives, where every day is upside down day, where good means bad, up means down, and light means dark.

Los Angeles Times:

At first, Dorothy Vong assumed it was a drill — just like all the others at her work.

At the Inland Regional Center, where she’s a nurse, the staff works with clients and parents of clients who are sometimes angry. They have active-shooter drills every month or so.

“Drill started,” she texted her husband, Mark, around 11 a.m.

She walked to a window nearby and filmed a video as law enforcement sprinted toward the building.

“Oh, that is scary,” a voice says calmly in the background.

“They’re all geared up!” someone else says. “Rifles and everything!”

In the background, someone laughs — they still didn’t know.

Then the reality set in.

She texted her husband again: “Well it’s real.”

And then a few minutes later, another message: “We’re in a locked office.”

Mark Vong said he told his wife to stay calm and not to panic.

“They train for this,” he said, standing outside a police barricade Wednesday afternoon. “They know it’s going to happen.”

Stay calm and trust the police.  They will save you.  Except we all know now how many people perished in the attack.

I don’t know if I have any liberal readers or if any will stumble upon this post, but let me make an observation you know is true, but simply haven’t faced with all of your gun control.

Active shooter drills are stupid, as is active shooter training in general.  Oh, I’ve been through it because my own employer forbids weapons on site.  Hide under desks, lock doors, throw potted plants at the shooter (no, I’m not kidding), and all manner of ridiculous, inane, juvenile content and recommendations drowns the participant in this training like so much objectionable vomit.

It’ll never work.  None of it ever works.  It’s all concocted by the anti-gunners who want people to feel better about coming to work every day, like they can actually do anything about active shooters in the absence of a weapon to stop the shooter.

Your polices and your stupid training are culpable.  You hear me?  You’re culpable for deaths that have occurred and many more that will occur.  Get used to seeing the bloody night time news reports.  They’re going to get worse.

True to form, and consistent with Rahm Emanuel’s advocacy to never let a serious crisis go to waste, citizen  disarmament swindlers and other totalitarian lobby shills have taken to social and “regular” media to lay blame for Friday’s Colorado Planned Parenthood murders on groups that stand in the way of their goals. Those include gun owners, right to life activists, Republicans, Christians, white males, and others “progressives” view as impediments and threats to their objective of total control.

See also Mike Vanderboegh’s comments.  Look folks, this is a broken record.  The next criminal who wields a gun is the justification du jure for more control over people who didn’t do the act, wouldn’t do the act, who could be reliably depended upon to stop people who do the act.  It matters not to the controllers, and it needs to matter not to us.  Molon labe.

I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving.  I know I did.  I appreciate it as being not just some amorphous holiday to be thankful to who knows what or who knows who for whatever, but to a sovereign God to has favored us with His kind providence.

Fast-forward to present-day Boston, a place of sacred tradition, the literal forge for our heritage of individual liberty. Except Boston is now a place where traditions have been betrayed. Its current overlords have succeeded in disarming the whole people in a way that General Gage could never have conceived possible.

So successful have these rulers been that the city that gave us Sam Adams and Paul Revere is now a city under siege, and this is fittingly ironic if you think about it, by wild turkeys. So helpless and hapless are Boston’s modern-day patriots, they can do little except retreat from the aggressive gobblers, escape, hole up and plead for rescue from the very authorities that enforce public impotence.

Read it all.  Well, my reaction is that I would be surprised if the king’s men don’t hunt them down, since it is, after all, the king’s royal forest and men can only hunt by permission of the king.

Mike Vanderboegh links Strategy Page on the proliferation of personal defense weapons.  I haven’t developed a strong opinion on the value of these guns (or for that matter, pistol-caliber carbines).  I would be interested in reader reaction and opinion.

Seventeen people, allegedly belonging to specialised committees of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, were arrested Friday on charges of planting two explosive devices and attempting to block rain drainage in Alexandria.

The Interior Ministry said, in an official statement, one bomb exploded near the Al-Atareen police station, but the other one was defused before exploding in the same area.

The statement added that defendants dumped a cement mixture into the drainage canals to block the water and cause floods, consequently causing the repeated flooding in the city. The cabinet allocated EGP 6bn to maintain drainage infrastructure in Alexandria and Beheira in a bid to contain the damages resulting from the floods.

The drying of concrete is an exothermic reaction, one that occurs chemically rather than thermodynamically.  In other words, the presence of water doesn’t stop the drying of concrete.  This is a clever ploy to cause damage and vandalize infrastructure.  See how easy it is to cause terrorism?  The existence of a relatively peaceful America is a consequence of it having been primarily a Christian nation, with men who observed Biblical law towards other men.

As John Adams observed, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”  I don’t consider Muslims in that category “moral and religious,” since it is a political religion intended for domination over other men, crafted by a pedophile for keeping his band of warlords and fighters together.

Read the rest by Sean Davis.  The whole thing is a very bad idea for increased federal government surveillance and control, except it’s on steroids.  In this case, the federal leviathan would use this bill, if passed, as a tool to circumvent due process rights.

As I have said before:

I’m a Christian who believes abortion is murder, who supports secession, who has a negative view of the U.N., who stockpiles ammunition (as his budget allows), who believes in the right to bear arms, who is deeply concerned about immigration (and not just illegal immigration), who believes in the militia, who opposes the “new world order,” who believes that Islam is a fairy tale concocted by an evil pedophile for the purpose of keeping his roving band of murderers and thugs together, who believes that the American way of life is under attack and has been for a very long time …

I am either on such a list or should be, according to the federal leviathan who wants to control the souls of all of its subjects.  As for really bad people who should purchase guns, Form 4473 should stop that, in specific question 11k.  And if terrorists aren’t in the country illegally, then what’s the real problem here?  Me and the rest of America, or our open border policies?

Oh, and gosh, looky here at just who in the GOP field of candidates likes the idea of a database of “terrorists who aren’t allowed to buy guns?”  You guessed it.  It’s Trump.  Why do you need a database if you are going to seal the borders and make everyone go home like Trump claims?  ‘Nuff said.

Those are precisely the actions to which the second amendment extends, and the judge has turned the second amendment on its head.

So if those countries, awash in weaponry, couldn’t stop those terrorist attacks, then what kind of moron thinks that it would’ve made a difference in Paris?

The reality is that Paris-style attacks are surprisingly simple to carry out. It’s a blessing that they’re not more common in the West. So rather than try to create an oppressive surveillance state or pretend that more guns are a solution to anything except a lack of death and mayhem, perhaps we could focus on addressing root causes?

And maybe, just maybe, we can even try not being the root cause in the future? Crazy shit, I know.

Of course, stopping terrorist attacks isn’t the point.  Controlling borders is more to the point, i.e., not letting people in like MS13, cartel enforcers, and Syrian, Somali and other radicalized Islamic immigrants.  But you know that.

What we see in Markos is sad, pitiable, even repulsive self-loathing.  It seems like something I shouldn’t be watching, done in the privacy of his own bedroom.  But as unseemly as this is, I can’t turn away, like driving by an accident without looking at the carnage.

Markos thinks he’s responsible, or if not him directly, his kind, or his ilk, or those who share his skin color who don’t think like him, or something like that.  Only he could tell us for sure.  But ISIS is apparently someone’s fault other than ISIS.  This is the progressive sickness, to be sure.

Every sin isn’t really a sin, just a dysfunction cause by bad white Americans and colonialists and Patriarchal bigotry and wealth densification within certain demographics, and so on and so forth.  It must be tiring to live with progressive guilt and outrage.  And I’m sure based on what I know about ISIS that if we left them all alone, they would be okay just beheading women and children in Iraq and Syria and killing young people in Paris.

As for Markos and his revulsion towards guns, I share it.  I don’t want Markos to have a gun either.  Ever.  I want Markos to be as defenseless as he wants everyone else to be in the face of danger.  Markos and I actually agree on something.  As for me, I will always have weaponry.  Markos is probably smart enough to know that we would never give it up without a fight.

(that’s what the Brady Campaign called itself before they figured it would be smarter to hide their true intentions) “Open Letter to the NRA.” She’s fine with using the coercive power of the state (meaning they can shoot you if you disobey them) to impose gun and magazine bans, one-gun-a-month limits and waiting periods, just so long as her precious hindquarters are protected.

Marco Rubio is a globalist.  But we knew that already.  The reason he had to “change his position” is because it was unpopular with the electoral base.  The reason he didn’t think that way to begin with is that he never really believed what the electoral base believes.

Sun-Times:

Twitter wasted no time recirculating Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s infamous post-Charlie Hebdo shooting tweet which said, “Isn’t it interesting that the tragedy in Paris took place in one of the toughest gun control countries in the world?”

While Trump was getting blasted (again) for that tweet, The Daily Beast posited that getting AK-47s into France, a country with hugely restrictive gun laws, most likely came though in the black market in Eastern Europe where “a Kalashnikov or a rocket launcher can be acquired for as little as 300 to 700 Euros.”

But what about here in the U.S.? If terrorists here wanted to buy guns, would they be able to?

The short answer: Probably, yes.

Yea, it’s another one of those articles.  Listen, collectivists.  A man intent on getting a gun will always be able to get a gun.  Or steal one.  Or make one.  Gun control doesn’t work with terrorists and criminals.  But you knew that already, didn’t you?  That isn’t why you want gun control, is it?

Tom Ricks writing at Foreign Policy:

I’ve been reading a lot of early American history lately. The more I read, the more I think that the gun is central to our history. So yes, controlling guns is literally “un-American,” in that it runs against the grain of our past.

Even so, I think we need to do something about guns, especially in the hands of the insane. Part of the problem is that everyone is partly nuts sometime. And some people are bigtime nuts much of the time. Other countries have crazy people too, but they don’t make it so easy for them to get weapons in their crazed hands.

Tom is a former journalist with the Washington Post, and long time military writer who has corresponded with me only once, and then just briefly.  Like everyone else at Washington Post (and Foreign Policy), he is a progressive.

So there you have it, the progressive mind on gun control.  “Everyone is partly nuts sometime.”  Never mind that Tom doesn’t give a clinical definition of nuts, and never mind that he hasn’t demonstrated that anything related to what the mental health professionals consider to be mental dysfunction has anything whatsoever to do with violent behavior.  It does not, as we’ve seen again, and again, and again.

He goes even farther, saying that some people are “bigtime nuts,” and we are left to wonder again what is the clinical definition of bigtime nuts.  Then he self-identifies as a rube and a dimwit.  The recent attacks in Paris demonstrate how easy it is to perpetrate evil if the perpetrator is motivated.  No country can compete with France for onerous gun control.  But more to the point, Tom may not be saying it, but he knows that the real problem with gun crime in America is crime in the black community, gun or not.  He is willing to make it tougher to get those awful guns for everyone in order to solve a problem that is primarily associated with the inner city black community.

I wonder if Tom is concerned enough about the black community to cause an American civil war over gun confiscations, or to see a government that has lost any semblance of control because no one observes its laws?  Does he really think we’re going to go along with more gun control?  Finally, I am left wondering if Tom wrote this piece when he was partly nuts or bigtime nuts?  For the record, I’m not nuts.
