The Paradox and Absurdities of Carbon-Fretting and Rewilding

Herschel Smith · 28 Jan 2024 · 4 Comments

The Bureau of Land Management is planning a truly boneheaded move, angering some conservationists over the affects to herd populations and migration routes.  From Field & Stream. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently released a draft plan outlining potential solar energy development in the West. The proposal is an update of the BLM’s 2012 Western Solar Plan. It adds five new states—Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming—to a list of 11 western states already earmarked…… [read more]

David Codrea: No guarantee that Hillary will be toppled.  No, there isn’t.  And nothing will dissuade the insane collectivists from casting their vote for the bitch, even if she was tried in a court and found guilty of child sacrifice.  But then there is this.

The Clinton Foundation case is headed towards a likely indictment.  Well, I’ll believe it when I see it.  She’s a demon, and indictment is too good for her and as for that matter, her enablers.

Via David Codrea, Sweden is on the brink of disaster and at a breaking point with immigrant violence.  This goes right along with what we discussed about Germany.  It’s all by design.

For more police shenanigans with a gun, see this and this (via David).

A Michigan trucker said a bullet accidentally discharged from a state trooper’s weapon landed “inches from [his] head” Monday afternoon near Troutville as authorities investigated an abduction report.

John Leisenring, 54, said Tuesday the shot hit the sidewalk near where he lay as the trooper tucked the trucker’s right arm behind his back.

What a damn goober.  You or I would be in prison right now.

Want another good deterrent for criminals besides a gun?  Get a big dog.  I’ve told you that you need to do this before, for different reasons.  What’s not to like about having a dog?  Really?  Can you think of a single reason?  If you think you can, then add this little goody to the pile of good things about dogs.  Muslims hate them.  My former Marine, Daniel, loves dogs just as I do.  There were packs of feral dogs in Fallujah in 2007 that would attack humans.  Of course they would – they were starving to death.  Daniel took in one of the strays, medicated and washed it, trained it, and used it on patrols to help in ascertaining when a feral pack of dogs was about to launch an attack (his dog would always provide ample warning so that Daniel could use his SAW to respond to the threat), and the dog would assist with identifying human threats as well.  The Muslims hated the dog.  Daniel loved him.  How rich.

Again I say, why not have a good dog?  They’re worth their weight in gold in situations of threat.

There’s a lot of cool stuff about working on your AR-15 in this article.

David Codrea:

Thus we have the commission’s monstrous “Gender Identity/Gender Expression: Legal Enforcement Guidance” directive. It’s the logical progression of an evil “culture” that forces Christian (never Islamic!) bakers to either publicly renounce their faith or be destroyed, and mandates the rest of us can either share a restroom with someone who identifies as – with 51 “gender options” and counting, they don’t even know what the hell they are – or hold it until you get home.

Well, it’ll eventually get ugly, much uglier than they anticipate.

Via Matthew Vanderboegh:

The bead is meant only as a reference while focusing on a distant target, and most shotguns come without rear sights at all. This doesn’t mean your front-bead-only shotgun won’t work well for home defense—it will—but it also doesn’t mean you can assume point-of-aim (POA)/point-of-impact (POI) alignment is dead-on. You should check it before depending on it to save your life—just like any sights.

Gun grabbers are the same everywhere.

The rotting fruits of socialism.

You mean he’s really just a liar after all?

David Codrea:

That’s inexcusable, but certainly revealing of the mindset ruling those locales. It figures Opposite Day “progressives” who exploit the term “inclusive” would put up barriers against the most vulnerable of their constituents.  Gun-grabbers would evidently rather see a disabled person physically abused and even beaten to death than “allowed” to possess an effective means of self-defense.

God tests men in various and sundry ways.  Our commitment to the elderly is one such test, and I’ve upbraided little turd Hamilton Nolan before over his mockery of the elderly and the right to self defense.  The disabled and infirmed are one other such test.  It’s not over for these states.  Those responsible will answer to God one day.

Matthew Vanderboegh gives us a primer on defensive operations in urban areas.

Mike Vanderboegh:

For those who expected deliverance from national politics that glimmer of light is now extinguished. The GOP will now go the way of the Whigs, clearing the way for the enemies of the Republic both within and without the party. What will be left will merely be different speeds and paths to the next civil war. All meaningful politics are now local, and will depend in the end on the muzzles of our rifles and the wisdom and training of those who point them.

It’s nice to see Mike writing.  And yes, this is the next installment, perhaps a touchstone on the wrong road.

Uh oh.  Matt Vanderboegh is starting a caliber war.  I always got pounded when I did that.

Here’s Matt on kit when crossing the line.  Always been a problem, always will be.  And it’s one reason that women aren’t suited for infantry.

David Codrea:

Such confident Democrat affinity for immigration, both legal and illegal, becomes obvious when you look at the numbers, as Pew research did in a 2012 “Political Party Affiliation among Hispanics” poll. Whether you look at all, at registered voters, at native born, foreign born, unauthorized, legal permanent residents or foreign-born US citizens, that affiliation is overwhelmingly Democrat.

It comes from their culture.

Update on Mike Vanderboegh.  Continue to pray for him.

Christ or a Glock.  Well, it’s not an either-or.  It’s both-and.  Except that I don’t do Glocks.  I would rather have a Springfield Armory, just about any model.

It looks like Mike is coming down towards the end.  This is very sad news for me.  I have a deep regret, namely, not ever having personally met Mike.  But we will meet in the new heavens and the new earth.  Keep him in your prayers.

It looks like there is a change of command at SSI, and while it’s nice to see his son taking on his legacy, I’ll tell you what.  You’ve got big shoes to fill, son.  I’ll be watching.

David Codrea:

“[T]he documents reveal how senior Justice Department officials—including Attorney General Eric Holder—intensely followed and managed an effort to carefully limit and obstruct the information produced to Congress,” the memo notes, adding further cause for curiosity. “Justice Department officials in Washington impeded the congressional investigation in several ways…”

Well, he’s a criminal, but he worked for a criminal too.  So it all started at the top and worked its way down, one gigantic criminal enterprise.

Ben Carson: “You know, during the Jim Crow era, those were the rules, too,” Ben Carson told MSNBC today, while discussing the caucus rules of the Colorado Republican Party. “They were written. Everybody knew about them. Didn’t make them right.”

“‘cause in rural America, there are a lot of folks — Sen. Enzi knows this — they might be out huntin’ gophers and go in to pick up the mail, and they got the gun sittin’ in their pickup — it’s just a matter — it’s a tool to do their work with,” he explained.

You jerk off bigot!  I know your type and I loath you.  Your antics don’t amuse me.  As for the pathetic republican cowards, how about shutting down the government over shit like this?  Oh, I forgot.  Ted Cruz already tried this and you hung him out to dry.  So come to think of it, I loath all of you.

With the Ohio primary tomorrow, it’s evident Gun Owners of America Chairman Tim Macy has not kept a pledge made by Director Emeritus Larry Pratt last year on national radio about factoring a candidate’s position on immigration in the group’s political ratings.

Groan.  Sigh.  I think it was Jesus who said let your yes be yes, and your no be no.

Eric Holder:

The Senate leadership’s plan to blockade President Barack Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court is the “height of arrogance,” former Attorney Gen. Eric Holder says — lashing out at GOP lawmakers for repeatedly refusing to “meet the president halfway.”

Is it the kind of arrogance it takes to discretely send weapons to the Mexican cartels in order to build a case for more regulation of legally made and sold American firearms?  Oh yea.  One is legal, the other illegal.

It’s a sad day for Breitbart.

At Mike Vanderboegh’s place, good grief.

David Codrea:

There is a group working right now toward restoration of the Constitutional Militia and other goals, and it’s sharing that message and hoping to recruit members and support: AmericaAgain! I was approached by their founder a few months back and, while I found merit in many of their ideas, had concerns about the way they were presented.  I see they have a reworked video message which merits being shared, because it opens the door to discussing what one group is going forward with to make the Militia as articulated in the Constitution a reality.

Read the whole thing, including the comment that prompted David’s column.  I’m all for this kind of thing, except for one stipulation.  The second amendment discusses the right to bear arms and be free of federal interference in the context of the states’ desire to keep that interference from happening.  That is the historical milieu in which it was written.  The founders only needed one excuse to prevent federal government interference with the states on firearms, and they chose the most likely and obvious choice, i.e., the militia.  The second amendment is not a treatise on the foundation of liberty.

It’s an illogical jump to cast that as the only reason for the right to own and bear arms.  If you had discussed regulation on the right to own and use a tool of their trade to protect their families, hunt, and ameliorate tyranny with a colonial man, he would have buried you under the remotest prison.  God gave us our rights based on man being created in His image and the expected duty to work and subdue the earth to His glory.  The militia was a convenient excuse for a certain clause in one part of the constitution.  Limiting our rights to our understanding of that clause is a mistake.

Nice Holster.  I’d take it is someone like say, Red’s Indoor Range, wanted to gift it to me.

David Codrea:

That would seem to indicate that the issue isn’t “lax gun laws,” at all, as the majority segment of the population behaves remarkably peaceably around all those guns. The implication is what Michael Bloomberg articulated a few years back, when he advocated for cities to enact special race-based disarmament edicts aimed at “minority” males up to age 25.

I think the primary motive in gun control is simply control, including over peaceable and law abiding folk.  The next motive, and it can be seen everywhere there is gun control, has a race component, where one goal is to solve the problems created by progressive policies in the inner city.

Lost in the wilderness with only a single piece of gear.  I’m not sure my choice would have been a hand axe.  I would probably have chosen a fire starter.  If I get a choice of two pieces, the next would be a large, fixed blade knife.

Bob Owens on the Baltimore PD FN handgun issue.  I don’t do the Bob Owens scene where I blame striker fired pistols.  This isn’t new for Bob, having blamed Glocks in the past, especially for short trigger stroke and light pull force.  I tend to stick with the booger hook on the bang switch theory.

Bang Bang!  It’s the gun’s fault!
