Jim,
I know the feeling all to well. My Son who you met when you were in Iraq and is now SSgt.Donald Reynolds just returned from his fifth deployment. This past time was a lot harder on me as a Father also. My best wishes go out to you and your family for a safe return of your Son. I also will keep him in our prayers.
I think I missed that chapter in the "Parenting Guide" about sending him off in to "Harms Way" while my Son was growing up. There is no way one can prepare themselves to do such a thing. As Parents we want to keep them well protected to the best of our abilities. It goes against all that is in us as parents. What I have learned from my Son is that he is a "Warrior" in every sense of the word and that he will do what ever it takes to bring his Men and himself back home safely. This is what his profession is now as an adult ,But he is very good at his job. That sentence sounds so bizarre and perverse too say,but it is the truth which I am not sure how it came to be?
God bless the Men and Women that serve our country and Thank you for all that you do for us as parents in letting us know how our children are doing.
